YEARS & YEARS IN CONCERT:
British electronic trio Years & Years has skyrocketed to the top of the UK indie dance scene with their soaring blend of ‘90s house, alternative R&B, and soulful synth pop. The band’s 2015 debut album Communion is one of the year’s most buzzed-about releases, and they’ve further fueled excitement around the record with their electrifying performances on tour. In concert charismatic frontman Olly Alexander dances around the stage with ecstatic abandon, delivering his emotional vocals with passion and precision while the band keeps the drums and synths flowing. Whether they’re getting fans dancing with “Desire” or performing their first UK chart-topper “King”, Years & Years always bring the house down with their anthemic songs, stellar musicianship, and infectious onstage energy.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Years & Years formed in London in 2010, originally working as a five-piece before becoming a trio and releasing their proper 2013 debut single “Traps”. They followed up in early 2014 with the single “Real, but things really took off later that year with the single “Take Shelter”, which topped the iTunes UK Singles Electronic Chart. Their fourth single “Desire” fared even better, peaking at No. 22 on the UK Singles Chart and becoming an underground hit in the US. With the 2015 release of their fifth single “Kings” the band broke through to the mainstream, reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and cracking the Top 10 on charts throughout Europe. Shortly after, Years & Years won the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015 award, joining a star-studded list of previous winners that includes Sam Smith, Jessie J, and Adele. With their highly anticipated debut album Communion generating massive amounts of buzz in 2015, Years & Years are poised to cement their status as UK pop royalty on tour.

I was lucky enough to purchase the VIP package and was able to enter the venue an hour before doors opened. There was some finger foods and a couple bars that were open to buy some drinks. Once inside the main venue I made friends with some other concert goers which was cool. Talked a lot and it made the time go by quickly. Once the concert started, the show was awesome! It was my second time seeing Years & Years, and they didn't disappoint. Olly has such an amazing voice.
i had a really great time watching Years & Years at MTELUS. venue has amazing sound system, lining up was organized and i didn’t have a hard time getting in. this was my first time to see Years & Years live and they were insanely good, crowd was super amazing and everyone had a great time. getting out of the venue was super easy as well, no rowdy queuing, all in all it was a super fun night!
paradise has always been a great venue. It’s intimate and gives you great access to the artists! Years and Years are just an amazing band. Olly is a energy all on his own and his positive and happy vibes mesmerize the crowd. You can’t help but dance and smile throughout their set.
The show began slowly, as the two opening acts each played for an hour. The opening acts sounded “off” and there were some technical difficulties that delayed the show while stage hands worked to correct wiring problems. When the Years & Years finally performed, the band was incredible. The music sounded perfect and the stage show was great. The Paradise Rock club is great for that “close to the performers” feel as everyone is less than 150 feet from the stage. The only drawback is standing on your feet, in tight quarters, for 4 hours!
Amazing performers, Y&Y are definitely a huge band, it was a pleasure to see them perform in such an intimate venue
One of the best shows I’ve been to in a while. It was so much fun. I just wish it had lasted longer! The TLA was a nice venue. I prefer the smaller shows where you are closer to everything. I am definitely going to see Years and Years again when they’re back in the area.
BEST SHOW EVER!!!! I love them so bad. Olly is so energetic and just all around amazing
Attended my second ever Y&Y concert with my daughter Mieczy. We saw them in Brooklyn this summer and now in our hometown Pittsburgh at Stage AE. It is a great intimate venue! The opening acts Cyn and Jess Kent were wonderful and my daughters smile from seeing her favorite band is priceless!
The concert overall was awesome. The opening act was cool; she had a lot of girl power, but I just wish I could hear what her name was better to look her up later. The biggest concern with the main concert I had was the nearby patron who was of a bigger size than all those surrounding them, including myself and my gf. They were inebriated for sure, and felt that dancing all over the place and bumping into everybody was perfectly okay. It was not. My gf and I weren't enjoying the concert as much because we kept getting bumped and shoved around because of their movements. It even escalated into a verbal argument, but simmered down thankfully. Close to the last 3-4 songs, the patron left because they weren't able to see because their glasses were sweaty and fogged up. This left all us surrounding patrons very grateful. We were finally able to enjoy the music and band without annoying interruption. All in all great concert. I just wish other concert goers would respect everybody else's space. I know that's what concerts are for: to dance and enjoy yourself. But not so excessively that you ruin everyone else's experience. Keep it within a foot or two radius of your OWN space. Not 6 feet and hit and bump and shove everyone around you.
