The dogs were outstanding but looked for more fun dog stuff vendors ???♀?
great seats, great show...happy anniversary...kudos to the guards on the judges side for keeping protestors from interrupting the best in show ceremony !!
need I say more? .
The sound quality at the dog show was terrible and the audience could not hear the announcer, who sounded muffled and was completely inaudible. We had to leave Arthur Ashe stadium early so that we could get home to finish watching the dog show on tv.
The rating is for the show - always amazing, always fun and entertaining. The venue has an issue with parking. The "parking lots"get that description loosely - no marked parking, full of construction vehicles and a forever walk away from the venue. The parking indicated on the signage and information is not the parking directed by the event team. But the show never disappoints!
First time ever attending and was quite impressed. Everyone that worked there very friendly, and the event was well organized. Traffic control outside of the event left much to be desired. Seems there was a lot of police around but very little being done to guide the traffic in an efficient organized manner. This led to some major traffic jams and folks unable to come off the highway to make turns. The sound system in the building during the Best of Breed show on Tuesday evening was horrible. My group had purchased tickets before the event and were up high in about section 127 but the sound was inaudible. We ended up leaving and poaching seats that were not taken and I can tell you most everyone in those sections did the same thing. Not sure if this is the BJK stadium issue or if WKC brought their own sound system. The evening before during the sound testing we were a bit lower and the sound was so loud I had to leave the area. Other than the traffic and the sound - the rest of the event was very well organized. I would also like to add from my 'soapbox' - something needs to be done to change the standard that the German Shepherd Dog does not have that awful sloping look for their back end. That is just horrible that they are still being bred and judged and rewarded to look that way. Nothing will be done to change that until the standard for judging is changed.
The venue (Flushing Medows) is not appropriate. For those of us who come from outside NY, it is too far from Manhattan. This area doesn’t offer entertainment options nor quality shopping and dining experiences. I’d is also very big which makes it difficult to see everything since yo have to move all over the place. MSG allowed us visitors to see all the dogs, go back and forth, etc. Flushing Medows is not cozy. Also, there are very few food options. There were very few vendors. At MSG there were plenty. Now, there isn’t much. I hope you consider moving back to MSG or other but in Manhattan. Everything is close, there will be more vendors and we’ll be able to see the backstage! That was a lot of fun.
The show was fine but I’m not a fan of this venue. I miss Madison Square Gardens. It was more convenient for traveling and the hotel options were better there. Encourage the AKC to return to the old location.
An amazing night full of the most amazing dogs. Highly recommend this event one time in your life if you’re a dog fan
