Respected, beloved and fiercely independent, Sturgill Simpson is set to make his highly anticipated return to music this year with the release of the forthcoming full-length album, Passage Du Desir, under a new name, Johnny Blue Skies. The eight-song album was produced by Johnny Blue Skies and David Ferguson and recorded at Clement House Recording Studio in Nashville, TN and Abbey Road Studios in London, England.
Simpson and his band--Kevin Black (bass), Robbie Crowell (keys), Laur Joamets (guitar) and Miles Miller (drums)--will also make their long-awaited return to the road this fall with the "Why Not? Tour." Simpson's first full tour in over four years, the extensive headline run includes stops at L.A.'s The Greek Theatre, Washington State's The Gorge Amphitheatre, Lexington's Rupp Arena, Chicago's Salt Shed (two nights), Queens' Forest Hills Stadium and Nashville's Bridgestone Arena among many more. Simpson will also headline Outside Lands and Austin City Limits Music Festival.
Since his debut, Simpson has released five full-length studio albums--2013's High Top Mountain, 2014's Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, 2016's A Sailor's Guide to Earth, 2019's Sound & Fury and 2021's The Ballad of Dood and Juanita--along with the 2020 projects, Cuttin' Grass Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Throughout his singular career, Simpson has relentlessly pushed against expectations, earning widespread acclaim and countless accolades including a Grammy Award in 2017 for Best Country Album and six Grammy nominations across four genres: country, rock, bluegrass and americana.

Sturgill Simpson and his band are awesome musicians but the Roy Wilkins auditorium didn’t do them any favors everything about the place was bad The place needs a total upgrade won’t be going back
Sturgill was beyond amazing!! That man can play the guitar!!! Can’t wait to see him again in the near future.
When I bought my tickets to see Sturgill Simpson, I knew it would be a good show. I had NO IDEA what I was getting into. This man and his amazing band were worth every penny and then some! He literally sang for 3.5 hours and was into it the every minute of it. This was hands down the absolute best concert I have ever been to and I have been ALOT. His talent is out of this world and he sounds as good in person as he does singing to me thru my speakers. What can I say, the man has the pipes and the stamina to give you the show of a lifetime!!
Sturgill Simpson's show was awesome. Third time to see him and he never disappoints. Who does a 3 hour set? Sturgill !!!
I’ve been to many shows, including the grateful Dead with Jerry Garcia, not dead and Company. This was the best show I’ve seen was alive that I can remember.
Sturgill played for three hours! The Fox is a true jewel of a theatre. The only bummer was the sound for the vocals. I was sitting in the balcony and we could t understand Sturgill even when he was speaking without music. Epic fail for the sound check. I have seen other shows at the Fox and no problems with sound. Disappointing as this ticket was $100.
Sturgill Simpson an amazing performer. The Fox theatre is an amazing venue!!!
Johnny Blue Skies was epic! Great mix of originals and covers that kept us rocking all night. Like literally all night...3 and 1/2 hours of bliss.
3 hours of music from all of his albums, plus some great covers. Beautiful venue, with great acoustics. I would go see the same show tomorrow if I could!
