NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS & C.W. STONEKING?
COME TOGETHER FOR CO-HEADLINE SHOWS IN 2017
“Rateliff isn't simply resurrecting the ghost of R&B past like some garden-variety neo-soul necromancer: He's out to shake the sheets, sermonize and get downright elemental.” NPR
“(C.W. Stoneking) the hottest—and most enigmatic—blues artist in Australia” The Village Voice
In what is sure to be a high watermark for Australian music fans partial to a little future retro flavour, American soul and R&B sensation Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, and our own king of arcane rhythm & blues C.W. Stoneking will come together for a limited series of co-headline shows in March 2017. Following on from Nathaniel Rateliff’s barnstorming sets at Bluesfest, subsequent sold out Australian headline shows and the recent weeks spent sharing stages with C.W. Stoneking in the U.S, local audiences will now have a chance to experience the magic of this dynamic pairing for the very first time, as the duo of acts book shows in Sydney, Brisbane and a special pre Labour day weekend Shindig By The Sea in the post industrial waterfront location of Williamstown, Melbourne. ?
With a brand new EP A Little Something More From… just released in Australia via Stax Records/Caroline, 2016 has been a monumental year of Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. Sold out shows, including the 9500 capacity Red Rocks Arena in their hometown of Denver, Colorado. TV appearances on Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert., TFI Friday and Later With Jools Holland amongst others has ensured the meteoric rise of one of the most exciting live bands on the planet. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats go beyond just faithfully recreating soul and R&B from the past, they instead inject it with a dose of modern grittiness and vitality until it becomes the genesis of new sound where the echoes of the past are heard only while moving rapidly forward. ??
Not to be outdone, C.W. Stoneking has been making a huge noise taking the voodoo R&B sounds from his third album Gon’ Boogaloo to the world. With a string of sold out shows, a haul of rave reviews and massive press attention on its release at home, C.W. then set his sights on the world, first with successful tours in Europe and the U.K. then onto U.S. where he has steadily gained the attention of what is an impossibly huge market, recently scoring #9 spot on the U.S. Billboard Blues charts and critical praise from NPR, All Things Considered, World Cafe, PRI, The World and more. ?We’ve known it for ages, C.W. Stoneking is the real deal, now the rest of the world is finally catching on!
Mmj was as expected awesome. Less familiar with Nathaniel Ratliff but was also energy packed and a lot of fun. All in all it was a very good show.
Nathaniel Rateliff is a fantastic performer who gives his audience a great high energy concert. The Night Sweats are a terrific band with a great horn section featuring two saxes. The live performance sounds just like his recorded material; there is no loss of instrumental or vocal quality. If you get a chance, don't miss him!
Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats (NRTNS) were absolutely brilliant! You truly can NEVER see them live enough times. Incredibly talented, entertaining, and engaged with the crowd. Watching them perform and interact with the audience just makes for a fantastic evening. We loved every minute of NRTNS on stage, we cannot wait to see them again! Now Merriweather could do better! We were in section 300 with multiple rows empty in front of us with the occasional small groups coming down from the suites. Halfway through NRTNS we had multiple folks coming down from the grass with all their extra stuff, chairs, umbrellas, raingear, etc crawling over the sides into this roped off area. In particular a fellow that was literally taking other folks by the arm and directing where they could sit in the area to ensure his unobstructed view and Merriweather could care less. Mind you the rest of us in section 300 paid for that view. There was an employee posted and maybe she was intimidated but if that is the case she should have alerted another team member that could handle the situation. People pay a lot of money and pick seats carefully for the venue to not enforce standards. Despite Merriweathers behavior if you haven't seen NRTNS find a live show now. You're late!
We loved the show! Can't wait to see them again when they're back in the area.
This is the 2nd time I've seen Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats and once again they did not disappoint. I saw this show at The Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, MD and the venue is second to none. Great experience all the way around.
My Morning Jacket and Nathaniel Raitliff and the Night Sweats put on an outstanding concert! Great music and sound! Merryweather Post Pavilion is a wonderful venue, very friendly and well-run. Great night!
My husband and I go to a LOT of concerts. We try to see everyone we like. Nathaniel Rateliff never disappoints and he took this show to a whole new level!
Need better signs for parking! The concert itself was amazing and I can't wait to see them again. My only complaint is trying to figure out where to park. Getting out was pretty easy.
It was our first time seeing the band live. Definitely lived up to the comments I have heard. Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats definitely should be on everyone's schedule to see. Very enjoyable show.
Very enjoyable and fun! lot of great energy on stage!
