We always enjoy the Symphony and this year’s Nutcracker was the best one yet. Rockford Ballet has a great company of dancers. The creative director knew how to keep the audience engaged without wondering how many more acts( it can get long), Perfect in every sense. We always enjoy picking up a Nutcracker or two at the show as well. We’ve been going for years.

During the show, it was constant crunching bags(chips) reeces etc..hardbto enjoy the show. Also, mihjt want to shut the doors after starting of the show...constant interruptions of late arrivals.
I’ve been waiting for this moment to come when I could take my grandkids to the Nutcracker and what a performance. The kids were mesmerized by the architecture and just the beauty of the Coronado. The hot chocolate was a special touch. Gramie bought their own Nutcracker and they held them during the performance. Lia almost 5 and Nate 10 had so much fun on this special day. They were amazed by the orchestra under the stage. And of course seeing real live ballerinas. They want to go again.??
This show is expected from my family each year. It gives the kids something to look forward too plus it's just good fun. We understand this isn't the most professional show we have ever seen. It's all about learning dance and being able to perform. We are so ?? happy to see other like minded people around us giving opportunity to young people in our area. Thank you RDC for your belief in us!!!
We took 4 of our grandchildren. 2 teenagers a boy and girl and 2 younger girls. The show kept their attention at all times. All of them hope we can go again next year. We were also very pleased with the way the Covid protocol was followed and enforced. We felt very safe.
The Rockford Dance Company and Rockford Symphony Orchestra put on a thoroughly beautiful and entertaining production of the Nutcracker. The dancing, music, funny moments, props were all great.
It was so gratifying to see RDC and RSO both in full glory! The dance production was spectacular. The traditional Nutcracker with all of the sets and props and costumes was a welcome return to a great tradition. Hearing a live symphony in conjunction with the dance was spectacular. Well done everyone! And seeing a sold-out performance at the Coronado, felt like a victory celebration over covid. The three jewls in the crown, the Coronado, the RDC and the RSO. Bravo!
Except for invited dancers and a couple of regulars, the event seemed performed by amateurs. I understand that this is a 'small city ballet' but my expectation was for a professional presentation. Act 1 was basically mute theater with, maybe, 3 ballet scenes. Act 2 was much better, but the overall experience was bad. If this is your first time watching a ballet, it's ok. Otherwise, I'd avoid it.
My sister and I always try to go to see the Nutcracker show every year. It's a wonderful show. We like the story and we like seeing all of the dancers and the different scenes.
