Sound system ruined concert
by Green on 5/13/24Rating: 1 out of 5I just remembered why I haven’t been to a gospel concert in years. Sound mixers seem to misunderstand the balance between vocalists and instruments. Gospel is about good news which means the singers’ message should be heard. The sound was over amplified and you could barely make out the songs much less the words. There were excellent singers on the bill. The Clark sisters prevailed in spite of, but there were times that their sound was obscured. Dillard’s powerful choir railed against the horribly unbalanced system. The only time they were discernible was when they sang “Lifter of My Head”. Unfortunately, time got away and we were denied a full set as apparently things had to halt at 8:00 pm and the choir stopped and exited the stage mid song—at 7:59. I don’t know where that sound guy came from- but if it is included with the venue, ever book a concert there again. If the sound people were hired, never use them again. How do u get those 4 hours back? Silver lining- “Lifter of My Head”, although abbreviated.
