For gospel singer and preacher Donnie McClurkin, music and spreading the word of God are one and the same. His concerts mix gospel standards, stirring originals, impromptu medleys, covers of secular hits and joyful discussions about the power of faith. McClurkin’s style is smooth and sophisticated, but he can still get crowds amped up with his genuine passion and unwavering devotion. It makes for a celebratory live experience, which was perfectly captured on his most recent album, the 2008 live recording We Are All One, which led to the single “Wait On The Lord.” McClurkin’s devotion is also evident in his weekly television show, Perfecting Your Faith.
Music and religion were also the two forces that helped save McClurkin from a childhood filled with trials. He joined his church choir at a young age and was soon doing backup vocals for gospel legend Andraé Crouch. In 1989, he was hired as an associate minister at Detroit’s Perfecting Church, working under another gospel star, Marvin Winans of The Winans Family. McClurkin released his self-titled debut album in 1996, and buoyed by popular single “Stand” and a plug from Oprah Winfrey, the album went gold. He sold tickets around the world, and his UK-recorded live album, 2000’s Live In London and More went double platinum. Its followup, Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs, also went double platinum and earned McClurkin his first of three Grammy Awards. He also earned 10 Stellar Awards, two BET Awards, two Soul Train Awards and one NAACP Image Award. When McClurkin is not touring around the country, he shares his devotion preaching as the senior pastor of the Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York and on the television show Perfecting Your Faith.

This was a dream come true ! To see Donnie He has no clue of who I am however his songs saved my life for the better ! I was in the 3rd row that’s how much the concert meant to me !
The event was great. Donnie was great with his worship and never wanted to leave. He stood at the back still singing and supporting his colleagues throughout the period and sounded as if he never got tired. That was very admirable. Just as there’s much emphasis on the singing aspect of the concert, the organizers should also emphasize the preaching aspect too since the gospel very important in our lives. It was really great!
It could of been better without the almost hour preaching. I felt he was all over the place and it seems the artists were cut short. We were ministered in song. He did a Sunday church service.
First time attender here. I was excited to attend this concert, since I haven't heard of a gospel concert in quite some time. Concert started at 6pm. Unfortunately, it WAS 9PM before the FIRST headliner came on stage. Three of the opening acts (Micah, Kimmie & the choir) were wonderful, but they should have only had two songs each. The other opening acts were not needed. I only got to see 3 of the 5/6 headliners by the time I left at 11pm! And unfortunately each of the headliners only got to sing about three songs. I would have honestly preferred to have one or two opening acts and more time to see the headliners, especially the ones I didn't get to see at all. I'm sure they are well aware, since it is a gospel concert, that most people have Sunday service the next day, including some of the performers. I have no idea what time that concert actually ended, but it was well over a six to seven hour concert. In addition, the pastor that was supposed to give a sermonette, gave a full 30 minute sermon, with no consideration to the time he was allotted. That left a bad taste, and I imagine would have done the same or worse for any unsaved attenders. They should have just allowed the performers to speak between their songs, which they did. That was all the sermon that was needed. First time attender and it may be the last one, unfortunately. The concert should leave you wanting more, not wishing it would end.
THANK YOU for the artist were at their best for what they do . I enjoyed the event . There were Praises going up lifting up to Lord and in Worship !
The concert was amazing, Artists were good, crowd was awesome
E New Beginnings did an excellent job. All of the artists did a great job. The sermon was a little long but.....
The show was amazing. I enjoyed myself. I was so glad that I was there. I was blessed from the beginning to the end.
I really enjoyed the event. However, I rated it four stars since I felt the BASE in the sound system overpowered the excellent vocals.
