All three bands brought it and I guess it was the opening night of the tour. Even though Julien-K had some technical issues, they still came out and played a really good set. But I will say, a group that I had never heard of before that day, did an incredible set, Priest. No, not Judas, just Priest. They came out in all black and wore these crazy mask type helmets that looked like something from a Batman or Alien movie. They reminded me of the Black Sabbath album cover, Never Say Die. As the guitar player began to rosin up his violin bow, yes, violin bow, I new it would be a pretty trippy set. There were no drums, just a keyboard, guitar and singer. The singer did laps on that stage and has an incredible amount of energy. It wasn't the red light in his left eye that got my attention, it was the way he jumped from side to side during one of the songs. The music was very electronic, and not usually my thing, but they did a great job mixing everything together to make it sound incredible. The keyboard player came to the front of the stage with a keyboard around his neck like a guitar and made it sound like a lead guitar, really cool. Not sure they will be on the entire tour, but if you get a chance, go see them and get there early, because they go on first. Powerman 5000 did an amazing job. They had the everyone jumping on almost every song. They were tight and very energetic. I was in front so I got a chance to watch the bass player a lot. He is something. Great backbone to the music and at times reminded me of a puppet on a string because of the way he moves. Really fun to watch. I got to see them last year with Rob Zombie and I was too far away to really watch him so this is one reason why I did not want to miss this show. Go see this show, you will not be disappointed at all. They will rock you.
