Very entertaining show. Lots of dance action. Lots of good looking dancers. I would definitely see more of this talented group.
Really really nice mix of cultures in the dance sequences…culturally and racially diverse mix of dancers…loved the solo dancer… Really great performance…will follow this troupe at other venues…
I would not have brought the seats if I had known that the view of the stage would be blocked. There were 5 camera equipments set up on tripods in which 3 of them were blocking our view. I had asked the people if they can move it or if they can sit down. One camera was moved, I switched seats with one of my children so that he can see better. Both of my children were uncomfortable because they have to tilt their heads to see the stage. I did not see much of the show/dancers unless they were on the right side of the stage (according to my view). Going forward, if the view will be blocked fully/partially, seats should not be sold.
I treated a friend to this performance for her birthday and we were both thrilled with the professionalism and excitement of the performance.
Not sure what is oriental about the company - they performed modern/interpretive dance to NOT music, but some hissing and whispering noises. Why organize a concert for hundreds of people in Queens and provide two parking lots for a couple dozen cars ONLY?
Fog machine activated fire alarm Had to evacuate. Then came back later No one gave us direction!
I went to this show on the Chinese New Year with my husband and parents. The dancing and costumes were amazing, and the venue was beautiful. We really enjoyed that some of the younger dance groups were involved...what amazing talent at such young ages!
The NJPAC is a Beautiful venue. The people that work there are very friendly. Parking is very easy. The show was wonderful. Will make this a family tradition.
The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company's celebration of the year of the golden rat was a delight! It began with a colorful set of dances on the stage of the Victoria Theater at NJPAC, paused for an intermission offering moderately-priced souvenirs and art in the lobby, and then moved on as a dragon parade across Military Park to a 15-item banquet -- and more entertainment -- in a private room at Express Newark. Performers from the company were seated at each banquet table, enabling those attending to learn more about them personally as well as what the dance company as a whole is up to.
