Not sure what show yall were at with these horrible reviews, but Musiq killed it. He put on a fantastic show at The Birch. Everything was on point.
First off. Raheem DeVaughn put on a good show. I wasn't familiar with all of his songs but he came with the energy and entertained the crowd. I don't know what the hell happened when Music came out. He took all the energy out of the venue. Everyone pretty much stayed in their seats for the first ten minutes of his set. For all the hits that he has, he didn't deliver them with the energy or funk that made you want to get up and jam woth him. He was off and so was the music. His hits were performed a few beats slower than the actual song snd it just threw everything off. If he's going to throw his artistic twist on his hits then spice it up and entertain the crowd. Don't make your songs drag. My wife and I were very disappointed in Music's live performance. We had to listen to some of his hits on Spotify on the way home as they were originally recorded to try to redeem him a little bit. We won't try to see him live again.
His microphone was bad. Could not hear his singing voice. We could only hear him when he was speaking. Never when singing. The other artists before him were clear and sounded great. Everyone in pavilion yelled “we can’t hear you” but his sound engineers did nothing to correct the sound. Many people left the concert early. Smh. Many leaving the venue stated this was usual with his performances.
I love Musiq soulchild music but I believe he is a studio performer. He seem like he doesn't open his mouth so you can hear him, or maybe it was the sound. We walked out couldn't take it. A lot of people walked out. This was at the Mable House Barnes in Mableton Ga Saturday August 17, 2024. Horrible performance.
I enjoy both Raheem Devaughn and Musiq Soulchild. Raheem was energetic and engaged the audience. I wish he would have been more energetic vocally but he does have a lay back persona so that's to be expected.
Musiq Soulchild's performance was amazing! I hadn't seen him in concert before. The venue was also a first. My sister and I loved the layout and parking was convenient (prepaid VIP). It was a rainy night but it was a "rain or shine"event that went smoothly.
I have seen Raheem multiple times, his performance never disappoints. If it were him alone it would be 5 stars easily. Musiq however was a disappointment and waste of money. His vocals were horrible, effort was lacking. Every 5 minutes he was walking off to drink water and chat with his band members or dancers. He way too often turned the mic towards the audience to finish his notes. The performance was so bad people were recording the back up singers instead of Musiq. Most people started leaving well before he finished. We tried to hang in there but ultimately ended up leaving early as well. We were really disappointed because we have always loved him as an artist and really looked forward to see him. Wish we read the reviews prior to purchasing tix.
This was a very good show overall. Musiq's microphone should have been up a little more. The sound seemed a little low. However, I enjoyed the show very much.
Portsmouth Va Concert from 8/16/24 was DIFFERENT and NOT in a good way. First, for the Good. Eric Benet was AMAZING, started on TIME and he really was more personable than I thought/knew of him. Very happy with his song selections, including covers from others including Prince. He had great crowd interaction and was very humble. He hit notes I didn't know he could hit, lol and I love him! 10/10, would see him again. But Musiq ONLY brought the Music, his band was FANTASTIC. But he DIDN'T bring his VOICE. He started the show with LOVE and IMMEDIATELY people started looking at each other and wondering what was going on, I honestly thought I was being PUNKED. :( His band sounded AMAZING, sound was very good but his MIC was not. Turns out as the show went on, it WASN'T his mic that was the issue but his VOICE. It came and went and so did the energy. People started to leave ESPECIALLY when he started his 'scat' part, which was a distraction. He PANTOMIMED parts of his act, and it was frustrating b/c his ALBUMS are CLASSICS. He would even ask the crowd "Are ya'll still with me"and we would answer "WHERE ARE YOU?"bc he was THAT off. Very disappointed fan and I actually LEFT early....Unsure if he was recovering from an illness or what. But Eric Benet should have CLOSESD the show, NOT Musiq! I'm STILL in shock bc I am a fan...but NOT for whoever showed up as Musiq!
I was not impressed with Musiq Soulchild at all, His sound was not the best.
