Miguel Zenon Tickets

Miguel Zenón is a true innovator. He’s one of the very few who pushes the boundaries in terms of rhythmic feels. There is nothing in his playing that is gimmicky. There’s not a lot of “saxophonics” (multiphonics and false fingerings), and there’s not even a lot of vibrato. There is just clean, honest playing that is truthful and from the heart. Miguel is one of my favorite players, and the group clearly has put a lot of time in on the tunes we heard. Everything was super tight, and at times there were layers of polyrhythm provided by each of the musicians. Fantastic! Top notch!

Miguel Zenon and his quartet delivered a sparkling evening of jazz sax, piano, bass and drums at Jimmy’s Jazz club in Portsmouth December 9, 2022. Jimmy’s venue and service was top notch and is a great addition to the northern New England jazz scene. I will definitely return. Can’t wait to see Miguel again
