If you miss the music from the 70’s-90’s, this was the show to be at!
Howard Johnson opened the show and damn if he didn’t sound just like the record! I sang along with him and remembered every word. He was dancing and getting the audience hyped!
We missed Alexander ONeal not being there, but Jeff Redd stepped in and made it a party! Never one to disappoint! He sang his songs, and other classics and the crowd was really into it!
The System came out and it’s like I was transported back to the 80’s; they were a whole vibe and sounded amazing. Mic and David have something special and their connection was still visible and on full display.
One of my absolute favorites, Lillo Thomas, was so engaging! He sounded great, even with some technical issues with his mic; the audience was singing everything right along with him! He danced all over the stage, danced and sang to attendees right in the audience and he, Howard and Jeff even greeted a few attendees after the show for pictures.
I’ve seen a few reviews stating Alexander ONeal was the headliner; that is incorrect, Melba Moore was the headliner and she did not disappoint even with some technical challenges that were out of her control. She did a few of her classics and had us all singing along. Melba still has it; style, grace and that voice!
People also need to understand the difference between someone singing over a track that has a complete set of vocals vs background tracks; big difference.
I’m sorry that Alexander O’Neal had a health emergency but I’m glad he is recovering. Not sure if folks know that he just came back from touring in London and that may have played a role.
All and all, I think this was a great show; things happen and if you can still work around it like these artists did, then you’re a consummate professional.
