This was an awesome Mother's Day gift to myself. I was invited out by another friend and boy did we have a good time.
We had decent seats - section 304 Row B and could see a lot. Since the people in front were the first row in the balcony no one had to stand up in front of us.
Jeffrey at 76 still has the same voice when he was younger - strong and full. It was so good, a lot of us couldn't believe he wasn't lip-syncing. (He wasn't). He came in and walked through the crowd and got the party started on time. He had us grooving his whole set. And he came back out and walked around the entire floor during a song mid-set. What a showman - still, and the energy!!!
Then comes the set change and Miss Stephanie prepares to blow our minds. Her energy was different, definitely slower-paced than Jeffrey's, but she told a story through her music and her small chats between songs. Her voice is like silk and effortlessly touched everyone of us. MGM Theater stage is huge and could easily swallow up an entertainer of her size, but she moved from end to end and kept us following to see where she'd head next.
Loved all the music and these two are singers who actually sing all their songs instead of having the audience sing. I pay to hear the performers - not us, and they did not disappoint.
My only issues were the strobe lights they kept pointing back at the audience during Jeffrey's set and the long change break Stephanie took to switch outfits. Her backup singers were on a little too long performing and it became a little tiresome. If she can tweak that part, I'd give this show 5 stars.
The venue is nice and there are tons of restaurants and quick serve places before and after the show. There's also the casino and there are several bars in the theater if you're thirsty. The theater is beautifully decorated and the balcony seats and those on the risers are very comfortable and roomy.
Again Steph and Jeff were amazing. But I wasn't surprised!
