HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!
by Noezpleaser on 5/14/24The musical is based on the movie of the same title; MEAN Girls,” not, “NICE Girls”. I went for the iconic laughs of the original, but it seems the PC police removed every possible situation, reference, or joke that would make a person laugh & replaced it with boring, feel good, rhetoric. If I want an op-ed I’ll read the latest issue of Vanity Fair. What I want is to blow off some steam, tripping down memory lane, not memory LAME, enjoying the iconic one-liners & comedic performances that made this movie & Lindsay Lohan famous. Even if I could get past the hack job editing & story re-imagining, the cast had nothing to offer. They couldn’t sing, couldn’t dance, & like me, showed no enthusiasm for the material. No stand out performers or memorable songs, which is kinda the main thrust of a musical ?? Many of the cast played multiple roles which not only got confusing it came off cheap, like they couldn’t afford to pay more than a handful of people. The costumes, set, & production value also cheap! Our show stopped & re-started multiple times with long pauses in between due to technical difficulties, making an already long, boring, production drag on. Many people left early. I stayed cause I couldn’t get over the $ I wasted on this. Can’t believe Tina Fey put her name on this. My review is more fetch.
