This was our first time at a ballet. It was amazing. The Lexington Ballet Co. was chilling. I recommend them to everyone.
Great performance that was well executed. Strength, athleticism but gracefully flowing.
The show and cast were all great and the staff at the Opera House very friendly. The venue has great style. Great ballet for the holidays for adults and family with children. Would highly recommend.
From the beginning to the end, i was in wonder of the whole show. Very good ballet dancers and all did a good job in displaying their various talents . Left the show feeling very in the holiday mood. Thanks for the show .
The show was a nice holiday experience. My daughter really enjoyed herself and wants to go again. It is always nice to have ballet in town vs driving to Louisville, Cincinnati, or Nashville. I would really like to see the interpretation of "Tea" updated from finger dance.
Good ballet, small stage, small theater, but a good show overall. Due to the small stage or dancers could not do any real lifts, no owl clock, just a regular clock, tree did grow (could have more lights on it). No live orchestra. Clean theater. Ushers were pleasant, smiling. Security upon entering just stood there (did smile and was nice) but didn't check anyone for guns knives ect. Would recommend.
Seeing The Nutcracker is an annual holiday tradition for my family. Some performances are obviously better than others, depending on where you go. This one felt very "local" with the small company and some costumes that didn't fit well. Back up dancers were often out of sync with one another. The most concerning piece to me was the yellowface with the Chinese dance- specifically the pointed index fingers that add nothing to the character except stereotyping. The Arabic dance was not as bad as it could have been- at least they had multiple dancers and focused more on a "snake dance" than on seductive belly dancing. However, I would still love to see more Nutcracker productions moving away from these odd stereotypes and doing a more modern and inclusive production. Unfortunately, other than the easy drive with the performance being in town, I can't recommend this one over other productions.
This is our second year seeing the Nutcracker at the Lexington Opera House and it hasn’t disappointed. Very affordable holiday entertainment for the family. Highly recommend seeing The Nutcracker in person at least once.
I took my sister in law to see this ballet thinking it was a professional ballet company. This was more like a community theater and more of a play than a ballet.
