Mr Burns helps to amplify the echos of the past not only visually by as a skilled orator. His careful treatment of the topics and style of delivery appeal to a wide audience in an honest way. I hope he returns to Thousand Oaks again in the coming years.
Ken Burns is an interesting, intelligent and thought-provoking speaker, not to mention entertaining. Parallels between the current political environment and the political climate leading up to and during Prohibition are profound and striking.
The Newmark is a great venue. Ken was great to listen to, he clearly enjoys what he does and it shows in his work and his interaction with the audience.
Ken Burns is engaging, thoughtful, and insightful. It looks like another winning production.
Ken Burns as a documentarian, as a speaker and a thoughtful participant in Q&A brings a focus on the human condition. His special insight brings out historical themes that repeat across the American landscape. We have nutty or corrupt politicians...and the same themes showed up during prohibition. Ken's ability to weave specific stories around individuals both famous and common brings to light the specific subject being covered. How he can spend hours planning, viewing and adjusting pictures for a single shot on one small segment shows the level of detail needed to bring such outstanding documentaries to the screen. A great evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening with Ken Burns, getting a preview of his latest work, and hearing his authentic voice.
Fabulous, educational. Can't wait till oct to see the entire show
Ken Burns is an amazing person and I could listen to him for hours. I only wish the interview part had lasted longer. I can't wait to see the "Prohibition" series when it airs in October.
Humor, Information, it was all there---a WONDERFUL evening!
