The venue was lovely and the performance by matthew whitaker and quintet exceeded my expectations! It was a night to remember and i’m truly grateful to have been there. The show was fun, inspiring, hip and more. You won’t be disappointed!
Matthew Whitaker is a musical genius. His quintet presents an amazing show of excellent talent. What a privilege to experience this group. The venue, Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club, Portsmouth, NH, is a gift to the area and brings great shows.
Absolutely loved this show and didn’t want it to end. You might think jazz quintet is going to be background noise. This was transportive, beautiful music and could feel the love and passion for their craft from all the musicians
It's been awhile since I have felt so much excitement over a new musical talent. Saw him over the weekend at the Capital Jazzfest an I have had a smile on my face since hearing and seeing this young brother perform. Haven't felt this electrified when hearing a group since EW&F days. Must see him in a smaller venue like the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg Pa.
Just an absolute prodigy. The entire audience stood through the last song in anticipation of giving a standing ovation. His music is so layered, so fluid you almost need to close your eyes and focus on the sound to keep up. Each member of his group was incredibly talented and they played together seamlessly. Just beautiful
The concert was great and Matthew Whittaker was of course amazing. I've seen him in concert before and I really enjoy him. He's very, very talented and it's obvious that he has a good time performing Looking forward to seeing him again.
Matthew is a force of nature; puts on a great show! His whole group was terrific. We had never heard of him before, will definitely go to see him and the group again.
We had a wonderful evening of really incredible music, an awesome atmosphere, delicious food, and wonderful hosting from the Club. It was such a friendly, interactive evening with (and I can’t emphasize enough) truly excellent music. Looking forward to going back to sit in different places, listen to singing, to go earlier in the evening, and to try other meals. So grateful to have this gem in NH.
First Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues is a magnificent venue. Everything about it is perfection. Second seeing Matthew Whitaker there was an exceptional evening. He is an incredible talent and provided some outstanding musicality that night. His rendition of “My favorite things” brought me to tears. I would HIGHLY recommend Matthew to everyone who appreciates wonderful jazz!
I looked forwarded to seeing Matthew Whitaker since I saw him twice on CBS 60 Minutes and he did not disappoint including his tribute to Chick Corea. It was also a pleasure to see/hear him perform at the Lincoln Theatre since I lived very close by in the neighborhood during the first eleven years (1950's) of my life and I am glad that it has been successfully maintained/restored.
