It was wonderful performance. Joffrey ballet is one of the best. The choreography is very interesting.
Three unique presentations - it was beautiful, interesting, graceful, and thought-provoking. Wonderful way to spend an evening.
I was in awe of the emotional, athletic and musical ability of these beautiful artists. They deserved the immediate standing ovation they received at the close of the performance!
The Joffrey Ballet was the best I have seen. They have been away from Baltimore way too long. Body and Soul was a great number showing the dancers' fantastic skills and beauty. Episode 31 was a brilliant full dance troupe number. Fantastic energy and dance skills made the number one to remember. Joffrey, please come back to Baltimore again soon!
Having been awareded a summer scholarship to attend the Joffrey School in the 80's, I was excited to see what they were doing having moved from NYC to Chicago, since my time. They exceeded all expectations!!! While still having amazing technique, they truly got into the essence of humanity and stretched the boundaries of dance through experimental movement and pure emotion. The first piece was the highlight for me - not just one star in the cast - but many! From newbies to professional dance as well as old timers, like me, this is one company/experience you can't miss - You will feel as if you experienced something magical and leave very inspired for whatever crosses your path next!
The Joffrey Ballet performed three works choreographed in the past five years. Each piece extended the vocabulary of classical dance. The dancers were superb. The audience cheered during the final standing ovation.
everything was great...especially loved the Frand Sinatra piece.
The repertoire was a nice selection of various American contemporary ballet pieces, and the dancers cast in each piece fleshed them out quite nicely.
The opening bit was poorly executed, but then the pas de deux was excellent. After the first intermission, "After the Rain" (or some similar name) was also good, with great use of costumes and rhythm. The final piece, "Nine Sinatra Songs" had bits of magic (the "drunk" couple was the best) mixed with near-standard ballroom dancing. On this point, I have to admit that I was disappointed to see heels instead of toe shoes on the ladies, but then again I am strongly partial to ballet over other forms of stage dance. Also, I counted eight Sinatra songs, because they played "My Way" twice. (the line "the end is near" must be too tempting.)
Interplay and After the Rain were my favorites, but I thought all the dances were great. The dancers were superb and I really liked the Frank Sinatra songs--the dances were just right for the music. I had a really "good" seat, but it was only three rows back and so sometimes I couldn't see the dancers when they were reclining on the stage (wasn't that often).
i was not a fan of modern ballet, like the classics, but this blew me away. After The Rain and the dances choreographed to SINATRA SONGS were incredible.will like to see if i can find the DVD since now all my family wants to see it
Unforgettable! Astounding! Second act to fabulous for words.
Dancing, choreography, costumes all amazing. Loved combination of dance forms.
Note this is contemporary ballet, not classical. In the Frank Sinatra songs section, the dancers were wearing actual dance shoes and not ballet slippers, but it was perfect. The costumes were amazing.
Love that they used Sinatra songs. I've seen them before. Took 7 others that had never been to a ballet and they all loved it.
The set, costumes, music, choreography, dancers technique was all superb! Fabrice Calmels is a ballet star! The dramatic tone and excellent story-telling made this a contemporary ballet for the balletophile to the casual audience member!
Othello was the most compelling dramatic dance theater I have ever seen.
Amazing! Iago was brilliant. The dancer was able convey all the emotions of the the character's betrayal and lies without saying a word. The murder scene was well choreographed, so much that the woman seated in front of me "gasped! " A production not to be missed.
wonderful performance. Great production! Lar Lubovitch rocks!
This was my first time at a world class ballet performance. I will see more. The theatrics, artistry and orchestration left me speechless! Great job! I'll be back
