Gave The Movie A New Meaning
by Chester Francis on 3/13/23Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5Hi! Great experience - the movie now has a new meaning and appreciation to my life. I felt the energy from the crowd was received by the orchestra, and for music folks like myself; their response back was received with even more emotion. That said, as an instrumentalist myself - I was twice as tired walking out of that venue as I would be in a dark theatre. I personally disliked the subtitles to the movie because my eyes were already up and down, back and forth between movie screen and orchestra. In fact it took me half the concert to realize there was truly a choir in the back (I was upper east section). The subtitles only added a third entity for the eyes to focus on, which distracted me from the movie itself (perhaps its a personal issue). I was personally there for the music, and the lighting off of the brass (purple with gold for the majority of the event) was perfect and added to every movement of the orchestral members. The seating hasn't changed at the Jube for years and I don't expect it to anytime shortly, but the seating is tight for those that haven't been to the venue. Your going to smell your neighbors, your going to touch legs, and when one person has to get up for a leak - the entire row will be standing. Great night, great event, and will definitely do again. Hands down to the Orchestra, wonderful job!
