About
Chicago is a Broadway musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb with Bob Fosse. The long-running show tells the criminally hilarious story of Roxie Hart, a ruthlessly ambitious housewife, and vaudeville star Velma Kelly — each accused of murder in 1920s Chicago. Did they do it? Of course. But can they get away with their crimes? That’s up to hotshot lawyer Billy Flynn, who uses his razzle-dazzle courtroom antics to sell the jury and the Jazz Age media alike that the two women deserve their freedom… and all that jazz. Featuring show-stopping tunes like “Funny Honey,” “Cell Block Tango,” “Roxie” and “We Both Reached For the Gun,” Chicago originally premiered in 1975, later inspiring the 2002 Oscar-winning film adaptation starring Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere. The musical’s smash revival has played on the Great White Way since 1996, eventually winning six Tony Awards and becoming the longest-running American musical in Broadway history.?
