Caravan Palace on Tour
Dubbed "electro-swing," Caravan Palace's irrepressible musical mélange is nothing if not infectious. Swing music has always been dance music, but when you mix it with modern bass, electronic beats and studio trickery, it becomes party music on steroids. Caravan Palace's version is exuberant stuff, filled with horns and the vintage ‘20s vocal stylings of French singer Zoé Colotis. Colotis is filled with pixie-ish energy, and in a live show, when she promises you're about to have fun, you'd better believe her. Her feet are liable to break out into a choreographed Charleston at any moment, and her clear, bell-like voice plays master of ceremonies to a swirling, manic sound. The group's world tours are known to sell out, thanks both to the live spectacle they put on and a devoted fan base that likes to dress up (think zoot suits and bowlers).
Caravan Palace in Concert
The Parisian septet claims both Django Reinhardt and Daft Punk as inspirations, but those influences don't fully capture the group's palpable joie de vivre. For all the electronic flourishes, Caravan Palace are not just knob-twiddlers: The core players started out as jazz musicians, and multi-instrumentalists at that. They reportedly first came together to fashion a soundtrack for an adult silent film. After a handful of Internet singles, their self-titled debut came out in 2008, and the single "Jolie Coquine" hit the European charts. Their second LP, Panic, followed in 2012, but it was the group's third album, 2015's Robot Face, that took them into the stratosphere with the insanely infectious single "Lone Digger." (Within months, it had racked up tens of millions of YouTube views.) The band parlayed that success into a move to their own label, and 2019's "Chronologic" trafficked in the same vintage vibe while pulling in new collaborators, including vocalist Charles X. But experimental directions, while enjoyable, cannot dilute the sheer vibrant power of this group, which has such a good time on stage that the audience can't help but have an amazing time, too.
What an amazing, highly entertaining band. Caravan Palace knows how to entertain and put on an amazing show.
My friends and I had a seriously amazing time at the show. Health regulations and mask requirements were enforced, but that didnt deter us or change how much fun we had. Would do again in a heartbeat!
Caravan Palace plays music that is catchy and unique and definitely outside my wheelhouse. I went to see them for the first time a few years ago on my daughter's recommendation and boy, do they put on a fantastic show! There is so much to enjoy ... fantastic musicianship, tons of energy, great dancing, and quirky sounds and melodies that you just won't hear elsewhere. Their recordings are good, but their music takes on a whole new dimension in a live setting. I would highly recommend that you check them out live!!
Best concert of my life. That’s all there is to say.
They are incredible!!! Such talented musicians and such vibrant and lovely energy on stage. They do such a great job blending electronic music with jazz/funk/swing. And they played so many instruments! Can’t wait to see them live again!
What a blast! We discovered Caravan Palace in June 2010 at the Montreal Jazz Festival and we immediately fell in love with that new growing style of electro swing. These guys have swing flowing in their veins and can drive their audience madly loud and dancing! They are amazing and I'd recommend their show to anyone!
Loved the music and atmosphere! It was even funny how they referenced the fire alarm from their last concert in Boston (which forced that concert to end early) - they tried to make up for it. Fun dance, cool lights, and of course, amazing music! Would love to see them in concert again.
This show was amazing between the live instruments, vocals, and dancing. It had everything. Hats off to Caravan Palace.
Really enjoyed the recent Caravan Palace concert at the TLA. Everything went well from beginning to end. Booking was easy. Venue was well managed. Got checked in easy. Coat check available. Two bars on site. Caravan Palace were phenomenal. They really put on a great show. I would highly recommend them, especially if you are into Electro Swing. All of the band members were fantastic in their own way, but certainly Zoe stole the show. Full of energy, full of fun, Caravan Palace was a dream concert.
Caravan Palace never fails to disappoint. They’re high energy with great sets, and really draw you in. You can’t help but jump up and dance! I’m surprised they’re not more popular, but love that they play smaller venues. They are a must-see.
The entire show was fantastic. Everyone on stage was full of energy and spirit. I had been waiting years for a chance to see a Caravan Palace show and I was NOT disappointed!
First, before I get to the band, let me say I was very impressed at how the 9:30 Club handled Vaccine check and making sure the very few attendees that were careless with masking were corrected. The staff was fantastic all the way. Now on to Caravan Palace. I discovered this group a couple of years ago and liked their music from the beginning. They blew us away. While I knew several members played different instruments, I had no idea it was so varied and so many! They really sounded as good ( or sometimes better ) live than the recordings. The on stage energy, shift of focus to solos and general interaction is fantastic. Thier interaction and recognition of the audience is very well done too! I would see them again in a heartbeat. They really should be at FireFly on the main stage early evening. Props to both the sound and lighting crew and designers. Stage lighting was my prior career many years ago and I still mess with it some and the layout, rig for the space and timing was excellent. Go see this group and enjoy a super experience.
I loved the high energy and play list. The venue was also intimate - we didn't need binoculars to see the performers. I'd love to see Caravan Palace again and soon.
Caravan Palace puts on an AMAZING fun show!! Phillip Michael Scales was fantastic as the opener as well. The 9:30 club was strict but friendly on masking requirements. Truly a concert to remember!!
Caravan Palace treats their audience with a unique genre of music that is Electro Swing, reuniting the past with the modern day techno and liveliness that few could share with the world. The connection with their fans by answering questions, providing new content in bits before releasing a new album, and remixed playlists of their songs shows their love for everyone.
I feel like I underpaid. A flawless energetic explosion of theatrical performance, musical extravagance, and charismatic personality. Fan previously of their music but had no experience with their live presentation and was blown away by what live performance added to the experience. Unforgettable and easily an experience I'll try to repeat in the future.
I’ve been following Caravan Palace for years now. I’ve been to a show on every one of their US tours, to date, 6. Their music just propels you to jump, dance, move and enjoy!
Excellent, we have already seen madonna, Mickael Jackson, U2, Gorillaz... and Caravan Palace is as good as this great icons. We hope that them come to Brazil one day. It was a pleasure to see Caravan Palace in House of Blues in Orlando.
Great venue felt very comfortable to be ourselves and great performance
It is a small well kept venue. The crowd was not bad. Staff and security were efficent. Opening act was good. He had a good voice, played good songs, and decent enough skills on the guitar. Except for the bass/percussion that this particular artist used. The bass was extremely loud. So much so that I couldn't hear a word he was saying nor the guitar. The intensity of this bass caused my chest to start hurt. And no i was in the far back of the venue. I could only imagine what it must felt like standing next to those speakers. Unfortunately the headliner seemed to copy the opener with the extreme bass. Which leads me to believe that who ever is on the mixer is completely deaf or has no idea what they are doing. Ive been to rock concerts that were no where near this. Sadly I leave because my body couldn't take the body vibrating overwhelming bass.
