The music of Washed Out has always levitated over a timeless frontier. You can sense it in his immersive, amorphous vocals, the expansive soundscapes, the wistful storytelling. It's a sweet spot where, says its creative force, Ernest Greene, "any sort of association or memory from the past can transport you instantly. I love that."
Greene's transcendent output has earned him the moniker of "Godfather of Chillwave" by Pitchfork and a co-sign from Portlandia, which borrowed his track, "Feel It All Around," for its utopian theme song. His latest, Notes From a Quiet Life (out June 28, Sub Pop) arrives after delivering more than a decade of distinct and disparate creative re-imaginations at a remarkably high level (five albums, two EPs). Notes is bold in its intuitiveness: Greene has left the treadmill of music-as-a-business, instead letting his artistic interests lead the way. "Each album," says Green, who also paints and sculpts, "is a world-building exercise."

Great experience. Sound at Iron City is always top notch. Earnest played a good variety of material and appeared to really enjoy himself. It was palatable. 3rd time seeing Washed Out and it was fantastic
The concert eas was absolutely amazing. Set design was awesome and inspiring. Totally worth the money and the wait!!!
New album rocks. Loved every minute. Not a fan of the 930 club so maybe next time try another venue as there are plenty of better options out there.
The description of the show said that it started at seven, but when we got there at 8:30, the opener hadn’t even gone on. He played for about 30 minutes and washed out played from 930 to 1030. A one hour set was pretty short especially after waiting two hours. But for the time that he was playing, it was an awesome show
Last night's Washed Out show at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC was one of my best concert experiences. Ernest and the band sounded fantastic. The visuals projected added to the ambience without being distracting. The crowd was enthusiastic. I saw the same show two nights before in DC and didn't want to miss the chance to see them again. It was even better the second time! Don't miss them if you have the chance.
Blown away by the beautiful light show, the musicians in the cubes and the music was magnificent experience all around!
Absolutely loved this concert! The venue was intimate which made the experience even better. The visual effects and stage set up were great! Would go to same show again. Interaction with audience was great as well. Highly recommend others go see them perform!
Everything was well organized, sound, ticket inspection, bar, everything was incredible.
Washed Out was absolutely fantastic! Musically the group has really upped their performance and the added visuals were a very nice touch. If you are even a casual fan, I highly recommend you go check them out live!!
