About
When acclaimed Icelandic composer?ólafur Arnalds?and cult-producerJanus Rasmussen?make music together, the results are sublime, entrancing and utterly unique—transcendent melodic techno that offers stunning aural vistas and ecstatic interludes in equal measure.
Over a collaboration as slow-burning as their music, the duo spent six years slowly germinating ideas, until in 2014 they sat down and finalised their first opus:?Kiasmos. A perfect intersection between Arnalds’ stark piano-led figures and the lush synth pop favoured by Rasmussen, their debut album folds the listener into its own private universe, rich with sonic detail and unexpected crescendo.

by Fruitcakey on 4/2/16Music Hall of Williamsburg - BrooklynAfter a long evening of wandering the city streets in a disenfranchised stupor, I stumbled into the Music Hall to a raging dark warehouse of angstless, sweatless 20-somethings with watered down drinks and iPhone preoccupation. Kiasmos was incrdible. The beats were solid, the energy was amazing and they kept everyone on a music high the entire time.

by Darkmatter on 6/10/15Rough Trade NYC - BrooklynKiasmos is composed of Janus Rasmussen and ólafur Arnalds who is a headliner Modern Classical from Iceland. The concert was pretty good at pretty good venue that has good sound system. There were no drunk crowd, which often there are, I was able to immerse myself in their sound genuinely. People are missing another great sound experience from Iceland. They are a new addition of my favorite Icelandic artists like Bjork, Sigur Rós, Mum, Asgeir.

by MarySarah on 5/30/15Rough Trade NYC - BrooklynOlafur Arnalds is a favorite of mine and when I found he was performing in Brooklyn, snatched up the opportunity to see him. This was the first time I had seen him in performance with KIASMOS! It was a lush, exciting sound which moved every part of your body and heart. Great grooves, pulsing in front of Olafur's lush melodies.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Kiasmos nailed it
by parkslopebob on 5/29/15Rough Trade NYC - BrooklynHigh energy performance and the crowd was totally into it. Great translation of quiet and somber parts of the record into sound suitable for club setting. They should be playing much larger venues.
