ATREYU IN CONCERT:
Atreyu has been bringing the metalcore mayhem to stages big and small for nearly two decades, and they're as brutal as ever in the wake of 2015's acclaimed Long Live LP. In concert the band is a maelstrom of sonic ferocity, unleashing searing guitar riffs, undulating basslines, and blistering blast beats that always get fans thrashing. Frontman Alex Varkatzas leads the headbanging charge, issuing guttural growls and searing screams while he stalks around the stage with rabid intensity. The rest of the band is a well-oiled machine, alternating between hard-charging passages and heavy breakdowns with dizzying virtuosity. As the action in the pit heats up during favorites like "Falling Down" and "Becoming the Bull," fans can't help but get swept up in the adrenaline-fueled frenzy Atreyu whips up.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Atreyu formed in Orange County, CA in 1998 and hit the ground running with the EP Visions, a collection of seven hardcore punk-influenced tracks that they sold at their early shows. After releasing a second EP in 2001, the band signed with Victory Records and dropped their 2002 debut album Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses. The video for album single "Lip Gloss and Back" got significant airplay on MTV's Heabangers Ball, and the exposure paved the way for the success of the band's 2004 sophomore album The Curse, which sold more than 450,000 copies and cracked the Top 40 on the Billboard 200. The band's third album A Death-Grip on Yesterday was an even bigger success, topping the Rock and Hard Rock charts and drawing them out for extensive touring. Since then Atreyu has remained a metalcore mainstay thanks to their hard-hitting live shows and potent albums like 2015's Long Live.
