Washington Mystics History
The Washington Mystics are a professional women's basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Since their introduction in 1998 as one of the WNBA’s first expansion franchises, the Mystics have topped the Eastern Conference twice and won the WNBA Finals in 2019. The team was led in their early seasons by multi- season rebounding champion Chamique Holdsclaw and four-time All-Star Alana Beard. They reached their first Finals in 2018 behind the play of two-time WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne. Washington returned to the Finals in 2019, winning a thrilling 3-2 series against the Connecticut Sun and delivering D.C. its first professional basketball title since 1978. Delle Donne won her second career MVP in 2019 while shooting the WNBA’s only 50-40-90 season, and teammate Natasha Cloud was named the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.

The HBCU/D9 game was a great experience! Wonderful crowd participation and a great showing from both teams.
First of all, I am 83 years old & unaccustomed to the loud noises throughout the game. My ticket was at about the top of the indoor stadium. So I ended up watching the game on my iPhone via ESPN. Finally, I was not prepared for the loud music that played throughout the game--even during the game. As I was beginning to get a headache from the noise, I left the game at half-time and continued to watch the game on my iPhone for my ride home on Metro. I went to the game to introduce myself to the trip to the arena & protocols at the area--so that I would be prepared to take my 12-year old granddaughter to a B-ball game. I will now arrange for her mother & father ta take her at another time.
The crowd was really feeling the game but don’t understand why they were cheering for the other team and there star players when we have a good team and glad they pulled out the win. Now we sit back and wait for the WNBA draft to see what place we will pick. That would be something if we land the # 1 pick.
Event was a sell out and we got in and out of venue without a hitch!!! Really impressed with the organization. Drinks were too pricey, disappointed no gear to buy, but game was wonderful. Seats were fantastic!
Got some tickets about the week before the game. We’re only able to get section 403, row ‘O’. Figured they’d be the worst seats ever considering there’s only two rows behind us. Excellent view! Pleasantly surprised. As far as the Mystics, Timeouts, halftime, and other instances were very entertaining. The gameplay was a tad bit lacking though.
Arena was fantastic- good food and beverage selection. Parking was easy in and out with a prepaid spot. Disappointed we paid so much to see Caitlin Clark play and she only got about 15 minutes, but otherwise, excellent time. Will be back!
This was my 4th WNBA game this season, all at a different venue. The Mystics fan experience is woefully underdeveloped. Washington is the closest team to me. I would rather spend more $$ traveling to watch games than attend another game in Washington.
My wife and I had a great time, with the Mystics playing terrific offense and tge game coming down to the last shot,
The game was amazing and the tickets were comfortable with a perfect view behind the court.
Went to watch Caitlin and the Fever, but the Mystics fans are awesome. They have so much energy it brings out the best in everyone.
