Winds of Plague provide a gale force brand of symphonic deathcore. With burbling melodic elements riding atop chaotic guitars and an unrelenting drum attack, Winds of Plague bring catchy tunes to a genre known more for unrelenting attack than memorable choruses. Recent album Resistance claims a new set of influences, building upon Against the World's winning critical reception. Whether headlining or in support of other acts, Winds of Plague are guaranteed to bring a wild energy to any concert ticket. Frequent breakdowns and swirling keyboards will fling any crowd into moshing spasms and keep fists in the air. They are currently on a headlining tour across North America in support of their Resistance album.
The band began in Upland, California, in 2002 as Bleak December, settling on the name, Winds of Plague, after a line in an Unearth song. Their self-released EP, A Cold Day in Hell, led to a deal with Century Media and the re-recording of some tracks for their debut album, Decimate the Weak. Their second album, The Great Stone War, brought personnel changes and a tour of New Zealand and Australia. Against the World peaked at No. 60 on the Billboard charts and garnered them widespread critical acclaim. Along with various support slots for high-profile metal bands, it also landed them an eye-grabbing place on The Warped Tour. Resistance was released in October 2013 and kicked off a headlining tour of Canada and the United States. One of the few bands mixing symphonic elements into the maelstrom of deathcore, Winds of Plague continue to tour the world and push the boundaries of heavy music.
