WILD CHILD IN CONCERT:
Fans looking for a note-perfect recreation of the Doors' legendary '60s concerts need look no further than Wild Child. Dave Brock has been channeling the legendary charisma of late frontman Jim Morrison for nearly three decades and he's got the routine down pat, taking the stage with a talented band of players to deliver sets so uncannily faithful they satisfy even the most rigorous Doors purists. Whether they're brooding on "People or Strange" or burning bright on "Light My Fire," Brock and his band are sure to deliver another round of supremely satisfying performances on their latest tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Wild Child formed as a Doors' tribute band in mid-'80s Los Angeles, playing their first show at the Whiskey a Go-Go in 1986. Jim Morrison's untimely death in 1971 had created a void among fans hoping to see songs like "Touch Me" and "Hello, I Love You" performed live, and Wild Child filled it perfectly, selling out shows first in LA and then around the country. Since then, their painstakingly crafted tribute show has become legendary in its own right, spawning a live album and paving the way for continued touring nearly three decades since their formation.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKET SAY:
"They were amazing, he is this generation's Jim Morrison, he sounds exactly like him, incredible talent and showmanship!"
"Jim Morrison is my favorite and the Wild Child tribute band did an excellent job of portraying the highlights of the Doors. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone."
"This Doors tribute band really delivers. The lead singer totally channels Jim Morrison both in song and swagger. The rest of the band pumps it out as well"
A real great show I almost thought that I was at real thing "Go Wild Child"Tribue to the Doors
Brock and band were excellent as usual! Really channeling Morrison! The warmup band is unnecessary and takes too much time. The start time was 7PM and WC did not start until 9PM. Too late!!
This was the fourth time I've seen Wild Child. That should say something right away. I have never seen the Doors live, but have watched many live videos of them. Wild Child is as good musically as The Doors ever were. The singer, while no Jim Morrison, is amazing! He's got a voice that is as close to Jim's as I've ever heard. He looks a bit like Jim too. He may not move like Jim, but to me, it's all about the music. The band is extraordinary! Being a drummer myself, I focus a lot on the drumming. The drummer has John Densmore's parts down pat!!!! And that's no small feat!!! Densmore's drumming is like no other. The guitar player and keyboard player are both equally as good. The song selection was great, as always. The sound itself was crystal clear, which makes a big difference when seeing a show. Whether you've ever seen the Doors themselves or not, Wild Child is a must see for any Doors fan or anyone curious about The Doors. The opening act, Memphis Crawl, I've seen three times, all as an opening act for Wild Child. While not my cup of tea, musically were very good. I'm just not crazy about the singer. But that's just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.
This show was outstanding. He's definitely got the voice. Great setlist. The whole band was excellent. If your a Doors fan this is a must see. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.
Saw Wild Child at the Paramount in Huntington. Good effort on the part of the musicians, but sound engineers should have taken off their headphones and listened to the show. Couldn't hear the vocals because they were drowned out by the keyboard and guitar. Nice venue but vocals and music should have been adjusted to compensate for the bad acoustics of the theater.
Fantastic concert! Dave Brock really channeled the Morrison vibe and the overall experience was fantastic. I highly recommend this band--a must see for any Doors fans.
Dave Brock embodies Jim Morrison with the mood, moves and especially his voice. The band members are clearly professional musicians. This was my second time, different set list. Perfect send off with L.A. Woman. Great show!
Well, the opening act "Memphis Crawl", although really good at what they do, is not exactly my cup of tea. Too loud to begin with. Way too loud! And the kind of acid rock that they play can challenge your every nerve in a hurry. The lead singer reminded me of "The Crazy World of Arthur Brown"and had they done "Fire", I would have really enjoyed it because the dude really did sound like Brown. As far as "Wild Child", what can I say? They sounded like "The Doors."And the songs they decided to include in their set were spot on. You could tell they were all carefully selected. Only "Touch Me"was missing something; a horn section. Especially the lack of a sax solo at the end. Other than that, 5 stars all the way. They were truly great.
Fantastic performance great band Love the Paramount
Was a great show. All songs where on the money! I can't wait until they return.
