About Thursday Night Fights: Boxing
Every Thursday night, the William A. Egan Civic & Convention Center in Anchorage, Alaska, hosts Thursday Night Fights. Boxers and MMA fighters can sign up to participate in the event to win cash, ranging from $50 if you lose a preliminary fight all the way up to $250 for the winner of the main event.?
It's a unique, community-based event that showcases the best amateur boxers in the Anchorage area. Best of all, it happens every week, so each Thursday brings a new opportunity to step into the ring, showcase your skills, and win some money.
Matches consist of three rounds, each lasting a minute and a half; there's also a 90-second break between rounds for competitors to catch their breath. Thursday Night Fights have held boxing bouts for the last 29 years, with seasons starting in September and ending as late as April. What better way to warm up during the cold Alaska winters than cheering on your friends or stepping into the ring yourself? Each night consists of seven fights, with an intermission after the first four. Events usually run from 7:30 pm until 10 pm, giving amateur boxing fans a solid block of entertainment each and every week.
Though the cards tend to be male-dominated, Thursday Night Fights also gets women in the ring to duke it out in boxing and MMA contests. Women also occasionally feature in the main event. The last one took place on December 13, 2018, when Yessica "La Colombiana" Cardoso defeated Avril "Frostbite" Straub by third-round decision.?
If amateur boxing and a community vibe don't hook you, those nicknames surely will. Each event costs between $17 and $37.50, depending on seating, so it's an affordable Thursday night out for fans of combat sports.

We had a great time attending Thursday night fights!
Am glad they started having mixed martial arts people box instead of just normal people without experience.
I didn't know they started allowing MMA fighting which was was awesome. Just think the fight I saw was uber bloody. No suitable for children
This was our first time to go and we had so much fun! It was very exciting! We will go again!
LOVE LOVE LOVE. Seats were good, announcer was entertaining, fights were good and clean. Bars were great.
