A holiday mash-up for the whole family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker returns for another spectacular tour. Directed and choreographed by Tony and Olivier Award-nominated Jennifer Weber, this contemporary dance spectacle is a re-mixed and re-imagined version of the classic, smashing hip hop dance and Tchaikovsky's timeless music together into a heart-stirring and inspirational holiday event. The Hip Hop Nutcracker is brought to life by a powerhouse cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop's founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set. Just like the original, in The Hip Hop Nutcracker, Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince go on a dream adventure battling a gang of mice, visiting the land of sweets and learning the lessons of the holiday season. Innovative digital graffiti and visuals transform the landscape of E.T.A. Hoffmann's beloved story from traditional 19th Century Germany to the vibrant, diverse sights and sounds of contemporary New York City. Grab your family and friends and let the dynamic performers of The Hip Hop Nutcracker take you on a journey that celebrates love, community, and the magic of the holiday season.

The venue was nice. Our seats were amazing! The performance was great! It was nice to see a different version of The Nutcracker. I would say if you've never seen the original, to read the description for this one. The music was great and it was easy to follow the story. The performers had great energy!
I took my mom to this performance as a Christmas gift and we were both so excited to go. Unfortunately, the show was okay at best. The story was difficult to follow and the dancing was average. We left before the show ended because we could not sit through it. Also, the mini-concert at the beginning was a bit off-putting considering we were there for a musical.
The Hip Hop Nutcracker performance was fabulous!!! It showcased various talents ethic groups, sizes and ages!
I was amazed at the mix of classical and modern music ??. Curtis Blow was wonderful. The love story through music and dancing without words was great.
The show was Amazing. It showed this in a new modern version
As an older white music lover, I have always despised rap and modern hip-hop. However, my wife wanted to enjoy this show so I tagged along. I was delighted to discover that it was a very good version of The Nutcracker (which I also dislike). The choreography was fresh and imaginative. The performers were universally energetic and talented. The most surprising thing was the reimaging brought out the beauty of Tchaikovsky's music. The opening hip-hop oldies set by Kurtis Blow was the icing on the cake. He got the largely middle aged audience shaking their booties.
Curtis Blow was awesome. The story took a while to follow bc the characters were not introduced clearly. Some of the action ( intro of the nutcracker as a puppet) was so far stage right that even though we were on the main floor we couldn’t see it at all. All in all a fair but not great event.
I had never seen the nutcracker, so I had to watch it on Disney+. If you have never seen the Nutcracker, then I suggest you watch it before seeing The Hip-Hop Nutcracker. It was spectacular.
This show was outstanding. I anticipated that it would be great but it was outstanding. Thank you MC, DJ and cast.
