BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Emotions was formed in Chicago, IL in 1962 by sisters Wanda, Sheila, and Jeanette Hutchinson. The group released several singles in the mid-‘60s, and by 1969 they were climbing the charts with the Top 3 hit “So I Can Love You”. A steady stream of popular singles followed in the early ‘70s, but things really took off in 1976 when they linked up with Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire. Under White’s guidance they achieved mainstream success with two seminal albums, 1977’s Rejoice and 1978’s Sunbeam. Rejoice spawned the disco classic “Best of My Love”, a chart-topping smash that still regularly appears on “Best of the ‘70s” lists. The Emotions remained on the charts during the early ‘80s with several popular recordings including 1985’s If I Only Knew, their last studio album. Since then they have continued to thrill fans with occasional appearances, inspiring nostalgic dance parties every time they take the stage to perform their classic hits.
