Best show I’ve been to in a long time! Incredible voices…
This was such a fun show - perfect for all ages. We danced, sang, and simply had a ball!
My party was early so we were seated in our reserved seats about 45 minutess before show time. The show started 15 minutes late. (7:45) The singers were fabulous, music was great, however it was wayyyy toooo loud. Also didn't appreciate when the perfomers went down into the front rows of the auditorium because those of us in the balcony couldn't see what was going on.
We loved this show. One of the best. I loved all three bands! Never have I seen so many People standing & applauding! Awesome show -hope you have them back…..FIVE STARS+
The show was great and the venue and people who run the event at Hoyt Sherman are the best. Always like to attend shows at Hoyt Sherman. It makes the show that much better.
Good music and good voices especially the Platters lead singer!
An enjoyable evening of Doo Wop music performed by tribute groups. First up were Cornell Gunter's Coasters. They did a good job of replicating the original Coasters sound including hits "Poison Ivy", "Yakety Yak", Young Blood", "Love Potion Number Nine" and a takeoff on "Charlie Brown" plus others. Next up was the Marvelettes cover group performing, among others, "Hey Mr. Postman", "Playboy", "Too Many Fish in the Sea" and "Don't Mess with Bill". While not as strong as the Coasters tribute band their performance was enjoyable. The final group on stage was Marshak's Tribute to The Platters and their performance was the strongest of the evening. They performed, among other songs, "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", "The Great Pretender", "My Prayer", Twilight Time" and a very solid performance of "Unchained Melody". The lead singer was superb. While, due to the age of the groups, there were no original members participating the groups did a good job of keeping the music of that era alive especially The Platters tribute.
The Platters, Coasters and Marveletts all gave A top class performance. They all sound like back in the day. Very entertaining show! Highly recommend seeing this show.
Purchased combo tickets that included Carnival World Buffet at the Rio with attending the Rio's Crown Theater for the Platters, Coasters, and Marvelettes. Picked up tickets at will call then had trouble accessing buffet. Will call did not give me the correct coupons. A very proactive manager helped get us seated and fed while she figured out the tickets. Show doors opened 15 minutes late. Music was good but I still do not know if any of the performers were original. One was the son of Sonny Turner, the second lead singer for the Platters. One identified himself as a long term member of the Drifters. I doubt the theater had more than 30 people in attendance. Performers personally shook hands as we departed.
