The Church Tickets

I finally got to see The Church when they came to Wisconsin to do Summerfest! Awesome show and totally worth the wait. My dream concert would be The Church, Ice House, Split Enz, Hoodoo Gurus and Midnight Oil! The Ultimate Down Under Tour. Please come back to Milwaukee!!

Steve Kilbey is the gratest poet of the 20 Century and still creating great music. Seen them 4 times.

First time seeing The Church outside of the free show at Amoeba Records, can't believe that was 8 years ago. Anyway I'm glad I got to see a proper set, well recommended! Didn't know too much about the Afghan Whigs, but I knew they would put on a good show and they did not disappoint I'll have to look at their music further. The Fillmore is a great venue!

I was actually attending to see the Afghan Wigs! They did not disappoint. They played hard with strong guitar and vocals. I’ve been a fan for many many years. Ever since I saw them play a free show on the the Santa Monica peer in the late 90’s. “They break through with more depth and originality than the other guys grunge.” Is how a friend of mine described them. No truer words! They are a stand alone band with an original sound like no other band before or since. Excellent musicians with song writing perfection. The crowd was definitely made up of fans of the band enjoying the show almost as much as the Afghan Wigs enjoyed playing for us. It was a fantastic night of music!

Saw the Church and Afghan Whigs at Anaheim House of Blues which is a really good General Admission venue that provides a number of very good sight lines for viewing the stage. Sound is excellent. Access to bars and efficiency to get drinks is very good, but drinks are a bit pricey for OC. A Beer/Cocktail after tax and tip will run you $20+. The show was good, really enjoyed both bands. The Church played 5 songs from their latest album which sounded good, but could have substituted out a few of those for some classics like "Tantalize"and Unguarded"Moment". Same story from from Afghan Whigs who really rocked, but they didn't play some of their biggest hits, "Gentlemen"and Debonair"

The Afghan Whigs were amazing. The whole band looked and sounded great and of course Dulli's charisma is transfixing. Ed Harcourt really impressed me as well; a man and his piano is not typically something I'm into but he put a lot of intensity into his performance and held my attention. I don't want to treat some old legends too poorly, but the Church were not doing it for me at all. The band sounded pretty good, but I guess I just don't love the new music, at all.

Def can tell its been years since these guys toured. Band sounded great - but the general energy and connection with the audience was lacking. Steve Kilby was rambling a ton - trying to create some sort of futurist story that linked the songs which made no sense and was weird. He reminded me of a cross between spinal tap (stonehenge) and the rock star character from Love Actually - but on a very mellow level. Had fun and the hits were great to hear again. But prob not worth seeing live. The Afghan Whigs opened and they were sensational - night and day with the energy, connection, and entertainment value. If they play together again on your tour, they are def the highlight.

Great show. The Church are wonders at creating a mindful vibe. Great songs, great sound, very mood setting lights and a tremendous room. It’s hard to top that music experience for me.

The show was great! We weren't excited with the first come, first seat aspect of the venue, I'm unsure if I would attend another show under those circumstances. The venue itself was cool.
