Hysterical from start to finish. A worthy successor to the brilliant Titanique.
It was a bit hard for me to get into the musical because the music was way too loud and I was sitting way to close to the stage. But once I relaxed, I laughed and laughed. As a straight person, some of the jokes went over my head, but that is my ignorance. Marla Mindelle was so kind to all audience members and tried her best to make sure everyone was having a wild time. The best in the cast for me were Paris Nix and Constantine Rousouli (a gorgeous hunk of a man). John Yi also deserves a shout out. Don't sit in the first four rows. Those rows will give you a stiff neck. Bathroom is clean but up steep steps. I am so glad I got a ticket to this show.
The laughter was contagious! Niche humor and outstanding cast! We absolutley loved it! Would see it again just to catch more of the satire!! Highly recommend!
The show was cute but weird. I think this impacted on the actors who were good. The good voices and dances deserved a less weird story.
This show is off-Broadway at its best! The cast is oozing with talent. Such a well-produced show and the writing is brilliant. If you're looking for the perfect escape from reality, head to the East Village!

Confusing. Hard to understand the sung words. Random, undeveloped characters. But the sets were pretty, the actors committed, even though the plot was poor. Whatever! $204 for EV Opheum? Really? Disappointing.
A really fun experience! A musical with great gags, high production value, and a really talented staff make for a really enjoyable evening.
Excellent show, laughed from beginning to end!! As a heterosexual woman over 50, I wasn’t sure if this show was for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this show!!! Some references went right over my head, lol, but no worries you get it all in the end!! If you are looking for a fun night out, I definitely recommend this show!
So much TALENT! So much ENERGY! So much FUN!! Every CAST member is PERFECT. The star, MARLA MINDELLE, who also co-wrote it, is BRILLIANT and makes it look easy!! If you loved TITANIQUE this will exceed your expectations . If you havent seen that - SEE THIS - or you will hate yourself!
The cast of Big Gay Jamboree! was very talented & over the top campy in all of the best ways. The voices were all excellent, especially those of the co-author Marla Mindelle and Paris Nix. The Technicolor costumes and creative sets were as gaudy and opulent as possible on a cheap Off-Broadway budget! Previously I had adored Titanique, Mindelle's previous Off-Broadway satire of both Céline Dion and the Cameron film. But that show was a sly satire on a real singer, film, and now-distanced tragedy. This new show has an original plot (put through a blender with that of The Wizard of Oz), unrelenting gay raunch, tuneful numbers that are never filler, always pleasing to a crowd that loves classic old-school Broadway show tunes as well as 1990s power ballads. Although the musical "jamboree"is ironic, meta, and post-modern (in all of the best possible ways!), everyone in the audience participates with wild abandon in the "wink-wink"parody of New York gay and musical theatre values. The bawdy jokes and plot delightfully entertain and propel the 100 minute show to a quick conclusion. My only point of criticism is that there were times when several of the songs (which flourish in the manic energy of the cast) were served up at such a frenetic speed, that the lyrics were unintelligible. Slowing down a few of them only slightly would bring out the irony and wit of their inspired humor, without sacrificing the drive of their campy melodic appeal. The pleasure should be in their tawdry budget-Sondheim double entendres, and there were several times where the lyrics were simply garbled due to the overly accelerated pace of a few of the winning tunes. But what a delight to experience another winner from a talented performer and writer! I wish the show as long run at the Orpheum as Titanique!
Irreverent, brave, hilarious, clever, silly, packed with joy. A celebration of theatre, of colour, of music and of life itself. Came out on a great big high.

As someone who saw Marla in Titanique, I was not sure if this would hold a candle to it. It was just as hilarious as Titanique! She has a such a clever way of incorporating pop culture references. Absolutely loved the performances, music, and production overall!
