THE B-52S IN CONCERT:
?
Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
?
Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.
Amazing show!!! Kate and Cindy sounded amazing as always…
I always have enjoyed the B52s. But especially at the Loveshack where love ?? rules. I also enjoyed the stage background scenery on Rock Lobster.
The B-52s gave a great performance , displaying their great musical talent with the opening act The Weeklings.Everyone enjoyed the opening act The music was very entertaining and everyone enjoyed the evenings performance.
For most of the performance, one singer was out of tune. It probably could have been a little better if the sound engineer had turned down her mike. I had to cover my ears at times. It was that bad. (Was seated in the upper balcony, if that makes a difference with sound issues.)
The concert was great. I wish it had been a little longer though. I drove for 4 hours to be there and it just didn't seem as long as their other past concerts have been, and I've seen them 5 times previously. But, as always, they throw a great party!!!
We attended the show, and it was great, the B-52s and the opening act. We sat in the balcony and the sound was excellent. Great vibe, lots of fun & dancing.
This was my first time seeing the B52’s live. I was utterly blown away by how amazing they still sound after 45 years!! I’m so glad my husband and I decided to go. The harmonies between Cindy and Kate are absolutely beautiful. Fred is the ultimate front person. I think they’re going to Vegas. Try to catch them if you can.
Excellent Show. Ocean Casino is a great venue. Burgers at Wahlburgers was great. B52s were great. Opening Band The Weeklings were very good.
Fred, Cindy, and Kate sounded good as ever as they delivered all the B52's hits to the driving dance beats of a great backup band. They were fun and engaging, relating to the audience while videos of the band in their younger days played on the big screen behind them. The girls sang way better than I expected while Fred was on the money delivering his lines. They were a lot of fun. The Weeklings opened the show, and although I was familiar with then from YouTube, they absolutely blew me away live. Performing both their own original songs and their own versions of Beatle covers, The Weeklings were one of the best live bands I have ever heard, and I've heard them all. Great vocalists and instrumentalists, the band plowed through one terrific song after another ending the night with a riveting version of I Am the Walrus. Be sure to catch them if you can!
Most fun I’ve had at a concert in years !!! Even my ball & chain couldn’t stop dancing ??
