SKIZZY MARS IN CONCERT:
Leftfield hip hop wunderkind Skizzy Mars is not afraid to do his own thing. The rising rapper has earned a devoted following in just a short time with a unique sound that pays homage to hip hop icons like Kanye and Wiz Khalifa while incorporating elements of pop punk and indie rock. The result is a catchy, hook-filled mix of styles that serves as the perfect scaffolding for his witty, melodic flow. In concert the young gun is all swagger and energy, spitting his razor-sharp verses with the confidence and passion of someone who knows he's going places. From the crisp hand claps and jocular lyrics of "Douchebag" to the sultry synths and skittering beat of "Do You There", Skizzy Mars is getting down to the beat of his own drummer, and fans in the know are getting down right along with him.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Like many up-and-coming rappers of his generation, Manhattan-based MC Skizzy Mars got his start on the internet. He posted his debut track "Douchebag" in 2011 to considerable online buzz and followed up with a string of increasingly polished songs that earned him a loyal fanbase. Working with producers like G-Eazy and Jhameel, his rise continued with the mixtapes Phases (2013) and Pace (2014). His unique sound and catchy flow attracted the attention of major label execs, and in 2015 he released his EP The Red Balloon Project with distribution from Warner Music Group. The record cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard 200, a testament to his arrival in the mainstream and a signal of big things to come for the young rapper.
SEEING SKIZZY MARS LIVE IS SO WORTH ITTTT! WILL DEFINITELY COME AGAIN TO SEE HIM AGAIN!!
First time seeing Skiz. Didn’t think I’d love it as much as I did. If you’re a longtime Skiz fan, this will be such an endearing experience. Will be seeing him any time he’s in the city or anywhere close by. MAD LOVE.
He was absolutely incredible! Small venue but nice
Skizzy is so talented along with Yoshi. The venue was awesome and I loved every minute of it!!
This was my first time seeing Skizzy perform live, and overall it was an amazing performance. Is this something that I would never forget!!
Skizzy was great. Would pay even more to go see him.
Not only did Skizzy perform at one of my most favorite venues but I got front row and it was a night to remember. He’s not the fancy type to have all kinds of things, it’s just him and he keeps it real and I love it. I was so in tune with everything that was going on I got excited and even took off my bra and threw it on stage he not only did he acknowledge the bra but he put it on the microphone and rapped the rest the night. I highly recommend everyone to come see him he loves his fans so much that he even went to meet with a few of the fans that were in line hours before the show and took pictures sadly I was about half an hour late after he did that but I got to see all Oliver Tree. Oliver Tree was his opening act and he put on a hell of a show.
Skizzy’s delivery was cold and robotic and his energy levels were not even close to the audiences. Production is repetitive and systemic. Songs feel factory made.
The only complaint I have is that the show didn’t last longer! I’ve been into Skizzy for years and it was so amazing to finally see him live! I will no doubt be going to all his future concerts! Unforgettable, amazingly perfect night!
I've been a huge skizzy fan since his album Phases came out on SoundCloud and to finally see him live was a dream come true. He was great performance wise and his voice was just as good if not better. I even waited two hours after the show at the back of the venue and got to be able to meet him. Unforgettable. Truly a dream come true.
