Popa Chubby, born Ted Horowitz, has been hard rocking the blues in his fierce & soulful way for more than 30 years. Over the course of a career that dates back to 1994, he has been a force to be reckoned with on the guitar, and his tempestuous, soulful playing has never been more powerful. Popa Chubby is an endearing character who is one of the genre’s most popular figures.
Popa Chubby's career has always been about moving forward and carving a place for himself in the imposing terrain of the music business, overcoming odds to continue growing and maturing as a creative force. He has built a constantly increasing base of fans across the world, where in many territories he is a star. He has delivered 25+ acclaimed albums.

I will say the man can play guitar, and he plays it well. Unfortunately he plays it WAY too loud! If I were 100 rows back in a stadium, then maybe it would have been OK. Three tables away from the stage in a place like Jimmy's Jazz and Blues club though, it was unbearably loud. Additionally, his mic was up way too loud as well. Even for a hearing compromised guy like me. My wife had to leave the room after the first song. I eventually found her in the bar on the top floor and we watched the rest of the show on the TV. As long as the doors were closed it was OK. I've been to many shows at Jimmy's but this is the first time I've experienced a loudness issue.
Small venue, so it was pretty intimate. He put on a good, long show. Obviously a pro. He played great!
Very loud for that small hall. Popa started out good but less then half way though it got kinda boring. Too many jams and not enough of his good songs. Plus, it was just too loud.
From start to finish he was amazing. What a master guitarist. Great band, great time.
Popa didn’t disappoint. I love this venue. So much fun. Going back to Jimmy’s in February.
The Jimmys Jazz and Blues venue is extraordinary! Great Staff, and good food too. Popa Chubby's performance was raw and personable.
Always a treat to see/hear this talent. Excellent, intimate venue as well. Love Portsmouth and Poppa Chubby.
So happy to have the Tralf reopen. Popa Chubby was a great band to reopen this great venue. Everyone should see a PopaChubby performance. Popa and his band always put on a great show and No matter how many times you see them its always a great time.!!!??
I felt blessed to be able to attend this show. This was my 1st 'public' event since the beginning of our collective Covid nightmare. A Popa Chubby performance will NEVER disappoint. He is one of the best guitarists I have ever witnessed; never searching for the next phrase/lick. Can not wait until I get to see him again.
