ODDISEE IN CONCERT:
?
D.C. rapper and producer Oddisee has set himself apart from other emcees of his generation by ditching cynical topics like violence and drugs in favor of personal themes like travel, inequality, and his hometown. In concert his laid-back beats and sample-heavy hooks set a relaxed vibe, and his smooth flow perfectly complements the chill atmosphere of tracks like “That’s Love” and “Own Appeal”. He’s joined on stage by a DJ on the ones and twos, and the live mixing always keeps the shows dynamic and the audiences on their toes. With his classic sound, thoughtful rhymes, and subtle swagger, Oddissee always delivers a soulful hip hop concert experience full of infectious grooves and body-rocking beats. ?
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Oddisse, aka Amir Mohamed el Khalifa, was born in the affluent D.C. suburb of Prince George County, a short drive from some of the city’s roughest areas. He was influenced by hip hop culture from an early age, and his proximity to the inner city closely informed his socially conscious approach to rapping. He hit the ground running in 2008 with his debut album 101, releasing three more albums over the next year alone. His prolific recording schedule paid off -- in 2010 he signed to Mello Music Group and released the album Traveling Man, a 24-track odyssey of songs written in 24 different cities around the world. His follow up on the label, 2012’s People Hear What They See, was a critical success, landing at No. 20 on Complex’s 50 Best Albums of 2012 list. Since then he has continued to record and tour extensively, both as a solo artist and as one third of the hip hop group Diamond District.

The Oddisee show was great. His energy was amazing and he performed his classics as well as some new music.
Oddisee and Good Company put on a great show. The band sounded tight and lush, Oddisee's flows translate to the stage, and they had a lot of fun. The hometown show was relaxed and full of local references to the X2, Wheaton Regional Library, smoke shops, kitfo spots, and more. The 9:30 Club sound meant that you could actually hear Oddisee rapping. A really fun concert.
Dope beats, dope rhymes, what more do y’all want? Fun show with a hometown dmv crew
Oddisee’s Atlanta show with Good Company was a great experience. I’m a producer myself, as well as an Oddisee fan and let me tell you his performance gave me all the motivation I needed to get back on track with my work. I’ve been a fan since 2007-08 and I can honestly say that this man delivers positive and great quality music. I hope to see him come through again soon!!!
Such an incredible show! Best show I've ever been to! Would definitely go again...
Great energy from start to finish. It's always refreshing to see a band enjoy themselves on stage.
I've been a fan of Oddisee for the last 10 years. Its been a pleasure to listen to him grow lyrically and musically. As a DC native and NOLA transplant I'd never had the opportunity to see him live and this show was every bit of amazing! His band "Good Company" brought his music to live well. This isn't just party and chill hip hop. His music is about life, growth and ultimately coming into one's own.
Highly skilled Hip Hop artist with a sense musicianship. High energy show in an intimate setting had the whole crowd involved.
