Incredible show- the Symphony was amazing and performed perfectly to the Best Batman movie made!
Outstanding Performance, outstanding staff at NJPAC all the staff were super nice helpful and extremely friendly my family and I had a great time
We had such a good time at NJPAC! The NJ Symphony Orchestra was perfect! The movie brought back great memories... And I got to dress up!
I can only imagine how difficult it must be to balance a mix between a live orchestra and a movie soundtrack, but there were noticeable audio problems with that mix while watching Batman In Concert at NJPAC on 3/2/2024. Note: I am a semi-professional sound mixing engineer; but my generic comments would probably be said by anyone attending that night. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed listening to the NJ Symphony Orchestra's well-rehearsed and conducted performance of Danny Elfman's original score from the 1989 movie, but the sound engineers should have brought up the dialog levels, especially in quiet scenes where the orchestra's level completely overwhelmed the dialog. If it weren't for the English subtitles on screen, I wouldn't have been able to follow the story. And this might be Warner Bros fault, but many of the sound effects and foley were missing entirely from the recorded soundtrack. It was like listening to the movie during its Post-production dubbing stage when not all of the sound effects and foley are available yet. And why on Earth did they replace the Joker's canned laughter effect after his fall from the church tower? As annoying as the original repeating laughter effect was, that was kind of the Joker having his last laugh on the audience even after his demise. It was actually disruptive to the experience by replacing that original laugh track. Did Warner think that fans wouldn't notice? Put the original, annoying laugh track back in, please! Overall, it was still an enjoyable experience. Nothing beats having a live orchestra play the original score while watching a movie you love. It makes it more immersive and connects audiences more emotionally to the story and characters.
Orchestra was great, however for this film in particular it seems the score & sound effects were on the same track as most of the punches & such were missing which was odd. For the price of these events I went want every book & pow! Again, not the orchestra at fault.
Such a fantastic and unique experience to watch the 1989 classic with a live orchestra playing the soundtrack, it was truly a wonderful exchange
Excellent. Only issue for me, it was to hot inside the theater and the concessions should be less time waiting. Besides that, everything was awesome.
The orchestra was amazing, so good you almost forget they’re there as you watch the movie. Such skill!
From the moment I entered the majestic Lobby and greeted by Staff..to seeing all the Batman memorabilia..I knew I was instore for a incredible and memorable night
The venue was clean and organized. The performance was spectacular! Highly recommend!
I give it 100 stars if I could .. my husband and my son loved it. It was my son’s first experience there at the NJPAC and it won’t be the last .. Great experience.
What a wonderful evening of music at “The Basie” in Red Bank with the superb sold-out performance of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”! The NJSO is such a wonderful treat every time we see them! Bravo!
A wonderful cultural event it really feel good connecting with other cultures
It was a great experience. Listed as one of the best.
The Count Basie is much swankier than it used to be, if you haven't been there in recent years. And the NJSO is strong and the performance of Pictures at an Exhibition was terrific.
NJSO and Joshua Bell -- perfect together. Great opportunity to see master violinist Joshua Bell performing with, soloing and conducting in one concert. NJSO beautiful performance with several shining stars in woodwind, percussion and large strings. The afternoon concert was a sell-out; a good way to spend an afternoon. There are several other afternoon performances this season -- get a ticket while you still can! I do not believe there is a bad seat in this most beautiful hall.
I enjoyed the combination of an exciting movie with the music generated from a live orchestra. The one difficulty I had was with the subtitles. It was hard to read the text whenever the film background was light. Unfortunately, this took away from the flow of the story. Otherwise, I found the show to be quite entertaining.
We enjoyed the laidback family friendly atmosphere and the show that was fun for our whole family with kids ages 0-12. We hope NJPAC will revisit the Bollywood theme!
The NJ Symphony always play fantastic. This review is not for them but for the selections they played. People came to hear familiar music of John Williams, not music from movies that were not popular. The best thing about the entire night was the 1 song they played after the curtain call, Indiana Jones theme. The next time NJ PAC advertises something like this they should include the contents. I may have stayed home knowing what was in the program. Fortunately for me, they play the song I enjoyed the most from John Williams, Indiana Jones.
The NJ Symphony delivers the goods with The Best of John Williams. It's worth every penny and we had a great conductor that engaged the audience. The NJPAC is a good bang of the buck venue. Parking is conveniently located right across the street. Yes, snacks and beverages are expensive...but, you've got to keep the lights on. The Nico restaurant has good eats. Eat before the show. It's the only restaurant and it closes as soon as the performance begins at 8PM. After that its chips or snickers bars! The music camp performance by the younger musicians was a pleasant value add. My only criticism is the people: Some over dress (suits and fur coats), some under dress (jeans and baseball caps). Perhaps a "Business Casual" disclaimer when buying tickets? Overall, its a great family night or date night.
