Wow, what a show! Modern English started off with a combination of guitars, bass, drums, and synthesizer that created a symphony of full-body sound. The crowd immediately responded and were engaged throughout the performance as ME played brand new songs along with long-time favorites. Melt with You was a sing along with everyone in the house participating. Encore was Swans on Glass. Amazing show!
Modern English and Gentlemen After Dark were great performances. Intimate venue that allowed us to feel the music and be close to the artists.
Great show lots of energy and sounded as great as they did in 1980s!
It was an awesome concert in a nice intimate venue. Still enjoy their music & happy to finally hear them live! Thank you for continuing to share your music! And, Gentlemen Afterdark was a great surprise.
Always great to see bands from the New Wave era come to AZ and Modern English were no exception. The venue was great but the audience was thin. The upside was we ended up pinching front row seats that were vacant. It felt like a lot of the crowd had come to see the local warm up band, Gentlemen After Dark but not me. It seemed like half the audience left after they had finished there encore. Modern English set was hit and miss. Personally I’d liked to have heard a lot more from Ricochet Days as I believe it to be there strongest album. All the same, it was great hear the boys again and as a drummer myself, kudos to Roy Martin who played superbly. With no encore after the ubiquitous Mesh & Lace I think the band left the stage disappointed in the lack of crowd participation.
I've seen modern English 3 times in a year. And yes, I'll melt with you is a brilliant song that is still fun 40 years later. The band has a many great songs and a great energy onstage. And the fact that it is most of the original members of the early days makes it more fun. I hope more people look into the back catalog and check out the newer stuff. I'm looking forward to the new album
