About The Laval Rocket
One of the newest teams in the American Hockey League represents and pays tribute to one of the most venerable franchises in all of hockey and to one of the greatest players of all time. Named for Maurice "The Rocket" Richard, the Laval Rocket is the second Montreal-area team to have been named for the Canadiens legend, after the QMJHL's Montreal Rocket (now the Charlottetown Islanders).
The Laval Rocket may have first taken the ice in 2017, but their origin as the top minor league affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens goes back more than half a century and through five provinces and one U.S. state.?
Founded as the Houston Apollos of the Central Hockey League in 1964, the franchise transferred to the AHL in 1969 upon a move to Montreal. From there, they moved to various places in Eastern Canada, from Halifax to Sherbrooke, Quebec to Fredericton, New Brunswick to Quebec City and Hamilton, and, most recently to Newfoundland and Labrador, as the St. John's IceCaps.?
There also is a shared history with several Edmonton Oilers affiliates through the Quebec Citadelles' merger with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2002. The franchise has won five Calder Cups, including three as the Nova Scotia Voyageurs in 1972, 1976, and 1977, one as the Sherbrooke Canadians in 1985, and one as the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2007.
The Laval Rocket's home ice is the Place Bell, which opened in 2017 and lies within 20 kilometers of their parent club's arena, the Bell Centre. There are three rinks in the $200 million complex, which also includes the home of Les Canadiennes de Montréal of the Canadian Women's Hockey League.?
The Rocket play in the North Division of the American Hockey League's Eastern Conference, where they do battle against the Binghamton Devils, Cleveland Monsters, Syracuse Crunch, Toronto Marlies, Rochester Americans, Belleville Senators, and Utica Comets.
the Rockets game was amazing and everything at the game was great
Fantastic atmosphere, great game and… a win. What else can we ask?
The only thing, traffic was terrible, left early got to within site of place bell, took over 1hour to park and get inside
Took a friend over from the UK. It's not NHL but it is still great hockey. You are close to the ice and the experience overall was excellent. Would recommend for people of all ages from you to old.
My Experience at the Rockets game was amazing i had a great time and it was a great game and the crowd was amazing and very loud
Everything went well, great time with the family. What was disappointing was the check in. Extremely long line up and super slow check in flow that we got to our seats 7 minutes after the game started. Not acceptable for this organization.
My wife and I had a great time. She isn't really a hockey fan but loved it. The whole 'spectacle ' is professionnel, both on and off the ice. The atmosphère was vibrant. Fans and staff were so friendly and upbeat. Great slice of québécois culture in a totally bilingual venue.
Best game ever right before Christmas! Rocket rocks!
Spent a long weekend in Montreal - two Canadiens games and two Rocket games. For the lower price, the Laval games were just as exciting and fun. Awesome arena with all the same frills as the Bell Centre. Sure, lower quality hockey, but still high level. A lot more economical overall, though. I was totally impressed, and will try and attend again too whenever I head to a Habs game.
Second time I have gone to a Laval Rocket game and the atmosphere is great!
Started off a little rusty in the first period but, woke up and played fantastic 2nd and 3rd period resulting 6-4
It was my first time at a Rocket game; the team played horribly but at least, there was a party in the house! The animation does an incredible work to compensate that lack of action on the ice.
The Laval Rockets game was a great and the crowd was also good and very Loud during the Rockets Game
Very entertaining! Fun times! I will try to attend more often.
it was Loud and it was a great game Friday night hope they can do the same thing in the first round of the Playoffs and hopefully go to the Calder Cup Final
The Laval Rockets Game Last Night was an Excellent game and the Fans were unreal last night at Place Bell
Informations towards event well explained (ie.: available parkings, map infos and etc.)
Good view. Sell out crowd. Great performance from Gab Bourque. They missed RHP for a win.
The Rockets game against the Cleveland Monsters was a Great and excellent game
