LA Galaxy History
The LA Galaxy have been playing for as long as Major League Soccer has existed in the U.S. They were one of the charter members of the league upon its creation in 1996, and in that first season, they held the best record in the Western Conference. They topped the Western Conference twice more before they clinched their first MLS Cup, beating the New England Revolution in 2002. History would repeat itself in 2005, when they emerged victorious over the Revolution to win the MLS Cup again.
From 2007 to 2012, an unexpected injection of star power took the Galaxy to a new place. British football legend David Beckham joined the Galaxy, and in short order there were more eyes on the team than ever before, and more MLS Cup victories in the 2011 and 2012.?
Even after Beckham's departure, the Galaxy continued to shine. When they won the Cup over the Revolution again in 2014, they became the first team in the league to nab the championship five times. International stars continued to flock to LA afterward, including Britain's Steven Gerrard, Mexico's Giovani dos Santos andSweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Among the Galaxy’s alumni are three MLS MVP winners: Carlos RuÃz (2002), Landon Donovan (2009) and Robbie Keane (2014). In 2015, the award was renamed the Landon Donovan MVP Award to honor the decorated All-Star midfielder’s career. Donovan also earned the Golden Boot as the league’s leading scorer in 2008.
In 2023, the Galaxy helped set the MLS single match attendance record at 82,110 in an annual "El Tráfico" rivalry match against Los Angeles FC at the Rose Bowl on July 4.

This was my first time going to the Rose Bowl. I was a lil bit excited. Then I learned they didnt have a standard parking lot like most events do. I paid $30 to park my car on grass???? The golf course next door. I have never paid that much and not parked on a concreate lot. The Chevy event was not well planned. It was a hot hot day. The area allowed for the event was so small, there was over crowding. It took so long to visit each car the heat made it not worth the time. Our seats were in general admission. This is the worst general admission EVER!!!! The way the seating is designed, there was traffic passing in front of us through out the whole game, we were in the front roll of the second section going up. We had to keep telling people to keep walking ... security was unable to control people infront of us blocking our view. I have just one more event scheduled at the Rose Bowl coming up. After this event, I hope to NEVER EVER see anything at the Rose Bowl again. Its disgustingly out dated. If your going to have me park on grass, you better charge me no more than $10. If you want to charge more, you better get a decent parking lot, not some closed golf course. The game itself was great. I loved the game and loved being able to watch a European team play so close.
First time at the Rose Bowl, and loved it! Great seats and a great game!
Fantastic game, fantastic turnout, fantastic night. Although it was a devastating game for the L.A. Galaxy, it was a treat to see Manchester United.
Great 7 goals from Manchester United at the Rose Bowl!
Something I forgot to add to my review earlier.... THE ONLY ISSUE I had at this (all in all fantastic experience) was the fact that I had to walk about an hour to get to a point where I could call an UBER! Wish the venue could make some shuttle arrangements to a certain point for those that don't have cars/not driving that particular day!!! That's the only downside about the venue!
Great game! My team won! Atmosphere was nice.. Food and drinks were good. I was unable to print my tickets and the staff at the venue were very accommodating and organised about the whole thing. Another thing I really appritiate about this venue was that they accept international drivers license as ID for the purchase of alcohol and they don't expect you to walk around town carrying your passport on you!! I'm from out of town and just moved to LA, I don't have a CA state ID as yet.. EVERY single venue I've been to including Staples Centre and The Forum have refused to sell me alcohol with my international ID.. I've even shown them my countries' government tax card but they insist that I need my passport and NO a scanned copy or picture on your phone won't do...they want the ORIGINAL!?! Ridiculous! Who walks around with their passport on them at all times?!! So this event and venue was such a relief! I enjoyed it!
I bought my tickets through Living Social and it was SUPER easy to redeem our tickets and find our seats. The match was everything and more but when we went to catch our shuttle it was a TOTAL DISASTER! 1. The Rose Bowl Staff gave us the wrong directions to the shuttle, so we walked across the entire field before realizing they were wrong. 2. As we asked additional staff if we were going in the right way, none of them knew...how is this possible? SOLUTION: Put up signs so that guests know where to go and make sure staff knows too! 3. Shuttle line was a MESS, there wasn't a clear line so people kept merging in after we'd been waiting for 30 minutes already...it took us a total of 1 hour to get through the "line" and onto the bus PLEASE fix the shuttle situation, it ruined our experience.
The soccer game between galaxy vs manchester U. was awesome! i was not happy that Chicharito did not play that day, i only buy tickets because he was on the ads all over LA. the worst part of the event was the parking lot! the parking was at a golf course that is next to the rose bowl, it took me like one hour to find my car, a lot of people had the same experience, it was missing proper signals and at night it was just impossible to find your car, would not go again by car, plus it was $30.00 parking so expensive for such bad organization... i was really disappointed for this parking issue... and the security/people in charge of parking was not helpful at all!
It was nice to see a Premier League team play in Socal. I was a little disappointed that the Galaxy did not put up much of a fight. They are definitely two levels of play but I believe the Galaxy could of made it more competitive.
