Country singer John Michael Montgomery has been treating fans to his earnest, heartfelt music for over 20 years. With 18 million albums sold and 15 No. 1 singles, Montgomery has established a style rooted in his impassioned delivery, wonderful storytelling and rich baritone voice. A ticket to a Montgomery concert is like a chance to reconnect with an old friend. The singer tells stories and plays songs that span his entire career, from early hits like his 1993 crossover success, “I Swear,” through more recent tracks, like "Forever" and "Mad Cowboy Disease" off his 2008 album, Time Flies. He even throws in some more recent work, like his 2013 collaboration with Colt Ford, Ride Through The Country, which also featured Ronnie Dunn and Joe Diffie.
Montgomery’s career started back in the early 1990s, playing dive bars in his hometown of Danville, Kentucky, until the day Nashville came calling. With the release of his 1992 debut album, Life’s A Dance, Montgomery immediately rocketed into country superstardom, with a No. 1 hit, “I Love the Way You Love Me," which a considered a timeless country classic. He followed it up with "I Swear" and the whimsical "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)," which were the Billboard Country Singles Of The Year for 1994 and 1995, respectively. Montgomery also showed his serious side with powerful numbers like "The Little Girl," a song he wrote for his daughter, and 2004’s "Letters From Home," his tribute to the troops, featuring actual recordings of soldiers' messages to their families. Recent years have seen Montgomery slow down a bit, but he will be going on tour throughout the US in 2014 and has recently announced that new music is on its way.
Great show. He was into the crowd. Could have played a little longer. But still a great show.
My wife and I went to the June 22nd concert in Kansas City. Our seats were on the floor center six rows back so we had a great view of watching John Michael Montgomery sing. He sounded every bit as good as he did when his hits were saying in the '90s. He put on a great show, and we would gladly go see him again.
Didn’t know what to expect. John Michael Montgomery been around for a while. He Is my favorite country singer from the 90’s, He did not disappoint! Easily one of best singer I’ve seen in a long time. Still has a great voice. He played all my favorite songs. Took my girlfriend, was hands down best date night ever! Seating was extremely close to each other and the curtains could have been opened few more feet. So people in the front rows, on the ends can see the full band
JMM was great! The band was great! The seats at the venue were tiny and so close together that everyone’s shoulders were touching. I’m not a large person and neither was the stranger next to me, but we were sitting so close together, it felt like we were on a date. Literally, I’d have more room on an airplane.
Bought the tickets to this because my wife wanted to go. Although I like JMM and his 90s country music I didn’t realize it was going to be such a great show. He sounded great, was interactive and reminded be of all the other good songs he has!
I love that I knew most of the songs, and he sang them the exact way I remembered them. Very fun evening.
This show was amazing. Love this venue. Intimate enough to really enjoy and the prices were great as well. This was our second concert there in 3 weeks!!!
Show its self was pretty good. Lady behind us talked non stop though instead of watching the show. Next time you want a night in the town talking about nothing , go to a bar instead of a concert. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us.
A great venue and an awesome show. There wasn't any theatrics, but it wasn't needed or necessary.
I have seen a lot of concerts and my niece and I drove from Cincinnati. I have to say, this was by far the best concert I have been to. Doesn't help that I love John Michael Montgomery!!!
