I feel so fortunate to have seen such great musicianship in a beautiful theater at a reasonable price. Jim Messina can still sing and play and his supporting band is tremendous. Most of the playlist comes from the Loggins and Messina days such as House at Pooh Corner, Danny's song, Your Mama Don't Dance, Holiday Hotel, and terrific long versions of Angry Eyes, and Trilogy: including Peace of Mind. Didn't hear much if any Buffalo Springfield or Poco. The big surprise is how good some of his newer stuff is such as Whispering Waters and others with jazz and Latin influence, which may be on his 2016 live album In The Groove. The supporting band is great with Jim Frazier on keyboard, Ben King on bass, Jack Bruno on drums, and Steve Nieves on sax, woodwinds like electric clarinet and flute, and various bells featuring terrific solos by each. We all need to see and support top professionals like this while they are still available.
