Justin Hayward on Tour
While a Moody Blues concert is an epic event, a Justin Hayward solo show — which might contain some of the same songs — offers fans a more intimate experience, one that's equally entrancing in its own way. Hayward wrote and sang the bulk of The Moody Blues' biggest hits, from "Nights in White Satin" to "The Story in Your Eyes" and "Your Wildest Dreams." And he's usually happy to bust out some of his Moodies tunes in his solo shows. But he's also maintained a solo recording career ever since the 1970s, full of melodic gems that you won't get to hear at a Moody Blues concert. And it's the combination of those two elements that really makes a Hayward show a special occurrence unto itself. When you're hearing Hayward deliver his material in a more direct manner, sometimes telling the stories behind the songs, it makes for a unique connection with this rock legend.
Justin Hayward in Concert
The world knows singer, songwriter, and guitarist Justin Hayward best as the driving force behind The Moody Blues, one of the most innovative bands of the classic-rock era. With Hayward at the helm, the Moodies moved from an R&B-inflected style in the mid-1960s to a more psychedelic sound later in the decade, making history with their marriage of classical music and rock on the 1967 milestone Days of Future Passed and prefiguring progressive rock in the process. And though he led the band through multiple comebacks and evolutionary phases in the subsequent decades, Hayward also created an artistic space all his own outside of The Moody Blues. He released his first solo album, the appropriately titled Songwriter, in 1977. And ever since then, though he's had long periods where he concentrated on being a bandleader, he's never closed the door on his solo career. Whenever he's ready for a more personal statement, Hayward steps away from the Moodies to resume his path with his own music.
Wonderful concert. Their songs sounded wonderful! Christopher Cross was fantastic.
Held in Bethel Arts Center Pavillion it is a small venue. All seats are great except far left and right. The far right was obstucted by curtain in front of equipment. We were center 6th row. FANTASTIC. Justin Hayward was phenomenal. He played many of his classics. His singing was great as was his guitar playing. We loved it. He is accompanied by Mike Dawes described by Justin as a genius player. He is incredible. Gifted with long fingers I will add. Judy at the keyboard and the beautiful Carmen on the flute. I missed that he did not play "The Actor"but one cannot have it all. I hoped for it with his two song encore. If you love the Moody Blues you will love the wonderfully talented Justin Hayward and company.

Awful, Horrible, Boring are the words that best describe his rambling set at the GSB music festival. All he did was take time away from Jon Anderson’s amazing dynamic set of Yes classics that could have, should have been an hour longer. To add insult to injury Justin over stayed his welcome cutting into an up and coming band’s time on another stage. They literally had to pull the plug on them mid song to make way for Jon Anderson. One less rambling story about practicing at the local church that no one cared about would be better form Justin.
We really enjoyed every second of the concert! Justin still is a wonderful performer and his band is great!! From Mike’s warmup show to the final song it was a great experience!!! I personally love an intimate acoustic performance but this went above and beyond me expectations of the night!
Enjoyed this concert at a decent $$. $106 for 2. $ worth it. Singers and players true pros. 1st song for each seemed to be tune ups, but fine songs & entertainment throughout. Venue always good
Great place to see a legend in a small setting without hassles of dealing with a large venue and massive amount of attendees and cars! Staff was so kind.
He was great . His voice still sounds amazing and his band was terrific . The event gallery at BethelWoods is a perfect place to see a show.
I was mildly surprised at how much I enjoyed Justin Hayward. He’s a brilliant musician, and he still sounds just like the voice of the Moody Blues from years ago. I would definitely go see him again!
Nice at first. Reminiscent. Good voice. Then, middle of concert, music very sleepy.
