IGGY POP IN CONCERT:
ThereÃs a reason they call Iggy Pop the Godfather of Punk -- he was one of the first to tap into the raw power of rock and combine it with snarling attitude to create a new genre of music. Whether heÃs swinging the microphone over his head, running around the stage, or contorting his body into a provocative pose, fans canÃt take their eyes off the uninhibited frontman anytime he performs. Pop oozes rock and roll swagger as he screams into the microphone on ìI Wanna Be Your Dog?, but he's just as compelling when he shifts moods for the cool sexiness of ìNight Clubbing? or the gleeful abandon of ìReal Wild Child?. Now Pop is back on the road with special guests Josh Homme, Dean Fertita, and Matt Helders to bring the Post Pop Depression tour to fans across North America. When an icon like Iggy Pop teams up with some of alternative rockÃs best musicians, fans can count on explosive performances theyÃll definitely want to see go off.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
James Osterberg, Jr. grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, where his parents gave him unlimited freedom to explore his creative whims. After playing in various bands (including The Iguanas, which inspired him to change his name to Iggy Pop), he started the hard-driving rock band The Stooges with three of his high school friends. At the Stooges early shows, IggyÃs stage antics became the stuff of punk rock myth, ranging from self-mutilation to bizarre surprises like smearing peanut butter all over his body. The three albums the band released -- a self-titled debut (1969), Fun House (1970), and Raw Power (1973) -- are some of the most important precursors to the punk rock movement. But in 1974 the band called it quits due to financial issues and PopÃs increasingly debilitating drug dependency. Fortunately, he made fast friends with David Bowie, who employed Pop (one of his biggest musical influences) as a backup singer. The two moved to Berlin in 1977 to get clean together and record IggyÃs solo debut, The Idiot. PopÃs fortunes finally changed for good in 1983 when BowieÃs version of ìLittle China Girl? (which he co-wrote) became a huge hit for the British rocker. The influx of cash helped support Iggy while he went into rehab, and in 1986 he re-emerged with his first chart hit ìReal Wild Child?. Pop reunited with The Stooges in 2004, playing shows to packed houses and finally enjoying the fruits of the punk rock movement that he had helped inspire. Despite his winding road to success, Iggy Pop is now regarded as one of rock's most influential musicians, both for his boundary-pushing live performances and his flair for reinvention in the studio. In 2016 Pop joined forces with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) for the album Post Pop Depression, which the pair will support with a highly anticipated tour.

Wow, at age 76 Iggy Pop, still brings it!! So much energy, song after song. No filler, just a great rock show!! I was very impressed!!
Went to see Iggy and was not disappointed. 76 and still gave it everything he had. The band played every song perfectly and did Stooges songs justice by playing them at the highest volume.
Venue was great. Iggy and the Losers were fantastic. Waited 40 years to see him. We even got to see his bum, lol
Fantastic Historic show. Can see why he was called Best front person. Crowd was really into him. Met a lot of friendly Canadians that travelled just to see Iggy. 76 years old and basically still stage diving. Chili Pepper Drummer Chad Smith & Guns N' Roses Guitarist Duff McKagen added well to the mix. And kind of wrapped up with a slowed down version of Lou Reed's "Take a walk on the Wild Side" Could not ask for more.
what a great show he was really good the sound was excellent staff were very friendly the restrooms were clean
He didn't make us wait like Coldplay. Audience participation/party Still sexy shirtless/pants Lou Reed cover classic Louie Louie Crowd knew every song /words Stooges/Losers Iconic . . Passenger ?? Mildly violent- Would you pick him up
I will go anywhere Iggy is playing, his music is timeless, it fits with every generation. This time we came from Wisconsin to Las Vegas and had the time of our life’s. Keep on rocken Iggy we need you!
Iggy Pop and The Losers are an excellent band. They did a lot of stooges and stuff from the Bowie years. New material pretty good too! Songs off of Raw Power sounded exactly like they should of at the time when they were recorded! you could feel the excited and electricity in the air as they ripped through Search and Destroy. Sound was amazing at the theatre! Must see show!
I have seen Iggy in concert for several years, but this was my wife's first time. Iggy and his all star back up band, The Losers, were both powerful and fun to watch. In no way was it an oldies show, although he played plenty of his most popular tunes. One of the best Iggy shows ever and one of the best concerts I have seen in a long time. My wife was blown away also. We have been talking about the show ever since. Keep Rockin' Iggy.. you deserve it. PS - I never caught the name of the opening band, they/she were pretty interesting and fun also.
