COME SEE HOW THE WORLD COULD BE.
Welcome to HADESTOWN, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards? including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy? Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show from celebrated singer-songwriter Ana?s Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always. Intertwining two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — HADESTOWN is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
This was such a fun performance. Highly recommended the actors were amazing.
I bought my ticket on a whim and it turned out to be such a genius move on my part. This show was simply phenomenal; like no other I have seen in years. I cannot recommend this show highly enough.
Absolutely phenomenal! The Greek mythological life story made me cry. Acting and singing and dancing was outstanding.
I thought I had good seats, aisle seats are my favorite. But then I got to my seat, and had a very tall man in the chair in front of me. Not a regular seat, but a chair, so he was not really offset so I could see but right in front of me. I thought, that's ok, I can lean over into the aisle and see the production. Nope. He wasn't having any of that because everytime he moved, and I moved, he then moved again to block my view. For 90 minutes this was happening. He didn't hear any of my misgivings nor did I think he cared. He not only blocked my view in every way, but he would also start talking with his wife or start "dancing" in his seat. It was the worst experience I've ever had in a theater. I was going to tell him what he was doing to my experience at intermission. I thought better of it and instead, I left. I believe I was able to enjoy the very first song but that was it. Hopefully I can see it in the future.
Magnificent talent, high energy wonderful choreography…. A profound and modern retelling of the story Orpheus and Eurydice Brilliant commentary of our current societal dilemmas
I purchased a ticket to Hadestown without really researching the background. I expected a good show, based on the awards it has won. I did not expect it to be this good. The music, performances, and message still are on repeat in my brain. It is well worth seeing.
This was an all-around well done show. Good creative reworking of the Greek mythology, with a dash of New Orleans seasoning. Fabulous performances, with special shoutouts to Hermes, Hades, and the harmonies of the Fates. And your instrumentalists brought the house down. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable time!
We didn't know anything about this story prior to the performance. But this show did an incredible job of teaching along side entertaining! The singing, the story line, the drama, and the love... all just spectacular!!!!
Amazing experience! Amazing singing! I am counting down the days to hopefully see it again next time it’s in Chicago. My boyfriend and I attended and he had never really been to a musical before, let alone one performing at the CIBC theater and he absolutely loved it. We laughed along with the audience and read had an amazing time. The cast and everyone involved did a phenomenal job!
Hadestown was fantastic. The performances were awesome and the musicians were also awesome.
