Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

Hate the seating but loved the show!! Eddie Suzie Izzard was resplendent!!
Izzard is a brilliant actor and artist. His/her distillation of Hamlet and tendering of all the roles against an austere box set is breathtaking and close to incredible while staying true to the original. Izzard’s intelligence, physical grace and gift for comedy are largely responsible for this stellar performance .
That was incredible, and SO much fun. Hamlet is a favorite play of mine and Eddie Izzard is a total rockstar. I have always loved her but never been to a live performance. the venue was GREAT- there were ONLY good seats, and everyone was so good about not fooling with their lit phones etc during the performance. we were all just rapt, present and in the moment. Gotta love New Yorkers and I was delighted it was downtown. Live theater at it's best. Also the minimal set/costume were perfect. I only wish I could see it again.
We thought we liked Tennant's Hamlet and Branagh's Hamlet, but Eddie's performance blows them both away. We thoroughly loved her show, and her charisma obviously shines through before, during, and after the show. So glad we could see her!
Suzy’s performance was brilliant and breathtaking!
Hamlet by William Shakespeare, probably you have seen lots of different, One man/women (human) plays all the characters, even fights , unbelievable. It's a must see.
If you get the chance go and see Eddie Izzard in her version of Hamlet. Remarkable, entertaining, funny and very, very clever. A simple yet effective staging allows Eddie to shine. Do not miss this!
I am a huge Izzard fan…I saw his stand up at The Beacon, “David Copperfield,” so this was a must see. I can only reiterate: MASTERFUL. A+
Provocative and persuasive adaptation of Hamlet. Love Izzard’s skill and energy. Is Hamlet mad? Is he merely feigning? Izzard got me engaged.
