I have seen this show twice in the past few years. It’s wonderful! The choreography and soundtrack choices push the boundaries of what one expects from a ballet. It is a show for the ballet aficionado as well as a great introductory piece for those that have never seen a ballet. It offers excitement and beauty as well as some PHENOMINAL physical acting that tells the story very well.
Production was awesome. It was my granddaughters first ballet. She wants to see more. She loved it.
The dancing was nice but the story was uninspiring.
The venue The costuming The coreography The staging The lighting The music...all were excellent. This is classical ballet at its best!
This is my 4th time seeing this ballet; I saw it first in Columbia SC. The Charleston performance October 29 was outstanding. The choreography was on the mark, acting was outstanding, the set was well done. Have to say Claire Richards Rapp, playing Lucy, was absolutely astoundingly talent. Amazing! The director, William Starrett deserves kudos for his long history of bringing top notch ballet to South Carolina. I must say that the use of a real baby in the vampire scene (who was crying loudly throughout his time on stage) was disconcerting and inappropriate. That is the only negative observation I can make. I plan to see it again next year.
