My family and I truly enjoyed this performance! Live Nation/Ticketmaster texted the tickets as I was not able to download the app and place the tickets on my phone. I appreciated that they worked with me as I am not an app person (nor do I intend to be).
Actual dancers were fabulous and talented. Expected a live orchestra, not pre-recorded music. The set design left alot to be desired, and was just unimpressive. Also, a matinee is apparently where people take their small babies?? Several screaming infants that didn't want to be there, who's parents should know better. Very distracting! Please don't bring babies to live performances. Last complaint is the cramped seating. It's an old theater with not much leg room and no cupholders so prepare accordingly.
I left after 30 minutes after realizing that it is the school of ballet, and they do not do ballet. They do very basic ballet, but mostly just random movements. Totally unimpressed and you can see it was amateur. For the price, I expected professionals. This should’ve been a $10 event maximum.
This was a spectacular event. It was heartwarming to watch young dancers performing with the professionals! It was a wonderful production and grows the love of ballet in young hearts!
I didn't insure my tickets, And I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery...:( my daughter was so disappointed...
Regarding the production: The staging, sets choreography &c was good. The fact that the music was recorded was bad. The venue itself was horrible. Where to start... As is the case in most venues these days, the seats are too small, and I'm not a fatty. There is not enough of an incline from the seats in front to the seats in the back. One seat is nearly on a level plane with the seat in front of it, the effect of which is that if someone insists on wearing a baseball cap or hat, the brim of that cap impedes the view of the stage for the person sitting behind them. This was the case for me. The person sitting in front of me wore a baseball cap (yes, to the ballet) and the brim of that cap literally blocked my view of one third of the stage. There should be a return to the days of the dress code for the arts. If one is going to the ballet, symphony, opera or theatre, please get off the tractor, put on your Sunday-go-to-meetin' clothes and pretend to have some goddamn respect for the arts. A jacket (at least) and tie (preferable) for gentlemen and evening dress for ladies, should be required. Also, people were being shown to their seats half way through both acts of the production, thereby disrupting the performance for people who cared enough to arrive and find their seats in a timely manner. No one should be allowed entry after five minutes (ten at the very latest) of the production having begun. Finally, food and drinks should under no circumstances be allowed into the house. This was Nutcracker, some of the most beautiful music ever composed (even if it was recorded), and it was punctuated every seven seconds by the opening of beer cans and the crinkling of paper and plastic food wrappers, as well as people taking their seats half way through the second act, again, interrupting the performance, because the lines for food and drink took too long. No food or drinks in the house, period. I will not be attending any fine arts production at this venue ever again.
The performance was amazing!! Thoroughly enjoyed it! The dancers were beautiful! I took my granddaughter and she loved it too!
First time to see The Nutcracker. Took my granddaughter and it was everything I hoped for and more. My granddaughter said, “I didn’t like it, I loved it!”
This was my first experience seeing a live performance of the the Nutcracker and it was great! I look forward to seeing it again next year!
