David Gray on Tour
David Gray can captivate an entire sold-out stadium with just his voice and a guitar, pulling at every listener's heartstrings with each emotional hook. The singer-songwriter grew comfortable on the stage starting out in the early 1990s touring around the UK, Ireland and the US. Within a few years, Gray's audiences grew significantly, especially when he started opening for groups like Radiohead and the Dave Matthews Band. But it wasn't until he went independent and released the album White Ladder in 1998 that Gray began getting the recognition he deserved. He ended up performing at the popular Glastonbury Festival in 1999, and eventually made it to the main stage in 2003. He's since toured the world extensively, selling out dates from the US to Europe to Australia, as he continues to expand his impressive catalog of songs.
David Gray in Concert
English singer-songwriter David Gray has enjoyed a strong, steady career composing some of music's most understated - and underrated - melodies. Gray was born in Sale, Cheshire, in North West England, in 1968, but moved to Wales with his family as a young boy. There, he started dabbling in music, playing in local punk bands as a teenager. He then headed back to England to attend the Liverpool College of Art (whose alumni include John Lennon), and began honing his songwriting skills. After graduation, he relocated to London to pursue a solo career and was quickly signed to Hut Records in 1992. He then released his debut single, "Birds Without Wings," followed by his 1993 debut album, A Century Ends, which captures a young Gray finding and forming his fierce, folk-inspired style. His next two albums, Flesh and Sell, Sell, Sell, brought some extra attention - especially in Ireland - but failed to reach a wider audience across the pond. He decided to go DIY for his fourth album, White Ladder, which he recorded in his London apartment and self-released in 1998. This decision proved to be more than wise: Dave Matthews then released the album on his brand-new ATO Records in 2000, and the single "Babylon" shot up the charts in both the UK and the US. The album has since been certified platinum a jaw-dropping 10 times. Over the following decade, Gray would continue to experiment, weaving in electronic touches while maintaining his signature heartfelt acoustic style. His 2005 album, Slow Motion, debuted at the top of the charts in Ireland and the UK, while his 2009 release, Draw the Line, featured notable appearances from Annie Lennox and Jolie Holland. In the next decade, Gray would slow down a bit, releasing his 10th studio album, Mutineers, in 2014, before returning in 2019 with Gold in a Brass Age, both released on his own IHT Records.

We were blown away by the concert. David gray was so much more than we knew he could be on stage! So engaging with the audience and so happy to be up there performing. His joy was infectious! Gorgeous outdoor venue in an area of Boston we’d never seen and would like to return to
David Gray is a great performer. He not only plays great music, but has a genuine way of connecting with the audience.
Loved that he did 2 acts. Even better-he brought out his original drummer. Please Forgive me was incredible. I also loved that he shared a little personal story about his dad when he was getting started and they met David Bowie. This was our 4th time seeing David Grey and his best show yet. Of course Harborlights is the ultimate place to see a show. Can’t wait to see him again!
Brought a friend who didn't know David Grey and now she's a mega fan. David Grey and bandmates put their heart and soul into what they do and it shows. I wish I bought tickets for both nights.
Great show! David Grays passion pours through his performance! He was having a great time…..as was the crowd. Perfect evening with a gentle breeze and great music.
Id never been to the Leader Bank venue but i will definitely be back. Hits all the pros: perfect view of the stage, quality sound, easy access to all amenities in the venue, no terrible bathroom or consession lines. The ease of getting to the venue and parking with ParkWiz was the easiest I've ever done.
David Gray hasn't aged a bit. Twenty years ago, when White Ladder came out, his distinctive voice carried the heartfelt lyrics and melodies of hope among loss. Last week, in August 2022, he brought the memories of the early 2000s back, along with all the joy those songs have delivered over the years when we sailed—on the ocean, through green lights—into the unknown. His performance was filled with gratitude for his loyal and patience audience who knew every word—it was hard to tell who was happier that night: him or the fans. We were all just overjoyed to be out there, back in the world again.
David Gray is such a great and entertaining artist. He makes you want to stand up and sing to his songs. The venue we were at was absolutely amazing because everywhere you sat was a good spot! Definitely want to see another concert here.
I never miss an opportunity to see David Gray when he's in town! This was the 5th time I've seen him. he performed White Ladder in its entirety. The volume of the music behind his singing was just right; it never overpowered his beautiful voice. He shared personal stories and some photos as well. It made for a more personal experience. My date and I agreed it was one of the best concerts we've ever seen!
David Gray put on an outstanding concert at the Leader Bank Pavilion. It was a great location with terrific amenities and easy access. Such a fun night!
As opposed to performers who come out on stage and can't wait to get off, David was joyous, energized and happy to be there; it was wonderful!
Fantastic concert by David Gray. We was clearly so excited to be here, and didn’t want to end the show. The White ladder tour took me back to some fond memories. So glad I went, he didn’t disappoint
Everything from start to finish. Parking, seating, easy in, easy out, played 3+hours. David Gray was amazing and gave everything he had! Leader Pavilion great acoustics, comfy seats extremely reasonable prices for food & beers. Can’t wait for next show there.
An amazing and powerful voice that seems to sustain the test of time and overcome the strains of performing relentlessly night after night with the same passion. The enduring affection of the crowds for this artist was obvious on this last show of the white ladder tour in Boston. David Gray is a man of his word “Give me everything or not at all“. He sure gives his audience his all.
Amazing show on every level. Happy 20th David and thank you for everything
So fun! David Gray and his band were top notch. I loved all the throw back English band hits!
David Gray was amazing! Nearly 3 hours of music in a beautiful venue. It was worth the 2 year wait!
Excellent show. Great tunes. David Gray has always been a show I wanted to see. Couldn’t have been better than the White Ladder Tour.
Amazing energy and show. Grateful we got to see the final show of this concert series. David Gray and the band & crew were incredible performers who brought a lot of energy. Bought tickets pre-Covid and the performance was amazing.
